Brushing aside criticism of President Obama’s recess appointments made while Congress was in session, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told The Daily Caller that his decision was “bold” and said Democrats are “glad” the president “took the lead” on the appointments.
“Let that be the public debate with the Senate but fortunately, or unfortunately for us we do not have a role in the confirmation process but we’re glad that the president took the lead, went out there, it was bold and made the appointments,” Pelosi said on Thursday when asked by TheDC about criticism of the president’s actions.
House Speaker John Boehner called the President’s recess appointment of Richard Cordray to run the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau an “unprecedented power grab,” noting that Congress was still in session.
“This action goes beyond the President’s authority, and I expect the courts will find the appointment to be illegitimate,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

And now Al Sharpton is calling out Rick Santorum as the beneficiary of racist republican politics. Amazing what a true racist can get away with, not the least of which being that he gets to brand others as racist. Particularly republicans, and yet no one can ever find the courage to call Sharpton precisely what he is.

His entire career has been built upon racial politics and lies and the hustle of racism for political goals, yet he is a paid pundit by several media outlets. Sharpton regularly appears for commentary anytime the media wants to whip the racist horse a bit more and this is yet another example of that desire to demonize the republicans via their pet racist brander.

Apparently, the Washington Times changed their original report. Specifically, they modified the quotation originally attributed to the preesident (below). I have subsequently located a video of the remarks, and this is not what he said. Therefore, this report is corrected and amended to reflect that he never said what was reported by the Washington Times.

The White House, though, argues Republican senators have been stonewalling his nominees for so long that Mr. Obama had no choice but to circumvent them.
The president introduced Mr. Cordray during a trip to Ohio Wednesday, telling a supportive crowd that the Senate Republicans’ ongoing blockade of his nomination “inexcusable.”

“I refuse to take ‘No’ for an answer. I’ve said before that I will continue to look for every opportunity to work with Congress to move this country forward. But when Congress refuses to act in a way that hurts our economy and puts people at risk, I have an obligation as president to do what I can without them,” Mr. Obama said.

Obama campaign warns of 'extremist' Republicans

In keeping with its previous line of attack, the Obama campaign's manager Jim Messina said in a statement that the "extremist Tea Party agenda won a clear victory" shortly after the results were announced early Wednesday.

"No matter who the Republicans nominate, we'll be running against someone who has embraced that agenda in order to win -- vowing to let Wall Street write its own rules, end Medicare as we know it, roll back gay rights, leave the troops in Iraq indefinitely, restrict a woman's right to choose, and gut Social Security to pay for more tax cuts for millionaires and corporations."

Romney Wins!

 Mitt Romney barely won the Iowa caucus by eight votes last night and the media went wild. The coverage was wall to wall all night and a casual onlooker not from this country, might have thought that it was the general election based upon the intensity of the media coverage and the frenzy to declare a winner.

As predicted, the media scrambled all day for headlines and exit polls and the hope that one media outlet would be able to call it the winner by themselves, particularly if they could call an upset. So the media and those interested stayed up late into the night burning the midnight oil,  to see who would prevail in what should be at this point, an indicator that this small sampling of America, is not really a fair indicator of American political perspective at all. But none the less they all came and they all cooed and they awed all day and all night and the entire week before and last night they finally got their climax.

At least those in the state of Iowa saw a temporary boost to their economy. but now let's brace for the next prize. On to New Hampshire and then to South Carolina and everyone don't miss John McCain's official endorsement of Mitt Romney later today.

If this were an episode of the Andy Griffith show, this McCain endorsement be the point in the episode where Gomer would shout "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!"

Romney wins Iowa! (barely)

The Republican presidential candidates propelled out of the Iowa caucuses Wednesday with the race looking dramatically different than it did just one week ago.

Mitt Romney won the night, but only by one of the slimmest margins in Iowa election history. 

Rick Santorum landed a second-place finish just eight votes behind Romney, turning a stunning performance out of his long-shot bid for the nomination and ending up toe-to-toe with the presumed frontrunner of the national campaign.
