Payback Time For AIG? Or Pay Up Time For America
Shepherd Smith was the only person yesterday (short of myself and and many others on the sidelines and absent a public means of addressing the people) who saw this congressional ploy and abject drama for precisely what it was and what it is as it concerns the AIG bonuses and congress' actions. Both before and subsequent to the AIG revfelations.
Today the headlines are blaring the question of whether it is time for AIG to pay up. I say....is it time for the American people to pay up. I say it is time for the American people to get a crash course and an expensive lesson in their history and in American civics and the constitutional law that applies to this epic error of conciousness and legislative irresponsibility.
It has been a known fact for quite some time that the average American is and has been lacking in the requisite knowledge of their own history and how the government is supposed to function. And now the truth has finally caught up with the dire reality IMO.
The US Constitution is the governing foundation of all law that exists in this country. Without it we as a nation are nothing and our laws mean absolutely nothing. It is absolutely amazing to me, that the founding fathers could have crafted so rich and deep of a document in a time when quill pens and candles were the standard of creative thinking brought forth to craft such a document.
Jefferson and Payne and Franklin and the rest knew all too well what would happen if two things were allowed to come to pass in this fledgling nation. The first danger being the creation of a federal bank and the second being the danger of a mob rule democracy. And to those ends and very real dangers, the founding fathers crafted the first two and most important amendments to the "peoples bill of rights" in the US Constitution.
The right to speak, the right to religious faith and freedom, the right to redress and petition the government and probably more important than the other three combined, the right of the people to resist and oppose any tyranical government that arose as a result of future generational apathy.
IMO, we have now come full circle from the time that the document and it's authors first envisioned what this nation would be and what it would become. We now stand at the precipice of abject failure and we do so for no other reason than apathy, fear and purposely instilled ignorance and stupidity.
What congress has proposed as it concerns the present created debacle with AIG, is nothing short of ex post facto legislation to attempt to cover the tracks of a failed legislative body. But combined with that are the clear and easily recognized foundations for what is nothing less than a bill of attainder.
Now here is the reality my friends. Here is the lesson to be relearned. "bills of attainder are specifically forbidden by Article I, section 9, clause 3 of the United States Constitution." As are ex post facto legislation of any kind, that attempt to rewrite the law after the fact! Yet that is precisely what Madamn Pelosi and the rogue band of socialist democrats in congress are attempting before our eyes!
Perhaps this is what it takes for the people of this country to be awakened from their ignorance and their decades of sleep while their rights and heritage have been stolen from them. I for one sincerely hope that if nothing else comes of this crisis, that Americans are finally forced to look at the nitty gritty and the inner workings of this country and who has been elected to represent it.
Heaven help us all if the present lunacy is allowed to stand and the people simply accept it as a means to expedite and satiate their individual and personal craven desires. If that happens and if this travesty of congress is allowed to pass as constitutional legality? Then IMO we are already past any point of reclaimation and we deserve what we have brought forth upon ourselves.

Who is Responsible? I Say We Deserve What We Tolerate
Is there enough blood in the water yet? Can the average American determine who is at fault and who is responsible for this cataclysmic mess yet? Or does the stench have to rise higher in the nostrils for the fetid reality to become clear?
Tim Geithner has been the wrong man for the job from the beginning IMO. But then again? So has the messianic one Barack Obama. But then again, no one has ever had reason to listen to me before either way.
So how much longer is it going to take before the wheels come completely off the wagon and the American economy crashes. At a time when Americans badly need leadership in Washington from the top down, all we are getting from our elected officials is song and dance and socialist malarkey and finger pointing by democrat socialist, hell bent on punishing this country and it's citizens.
Rome is burning and our present incarnation of Nero (Obama) is fiddling away at a maddening pace. Representative Mack is absolutely correct. We need to jettison this bird Tim Geithner right now and Obama needs to stop the socialist inspired merry go round and implement realistic policies designed to save this country first, then determine who gets credit for it later. And trust me, there is more than enough blame to plaster both sides.

Florida Republican Rep. Connie Mack called for Treasury Sec. Tim Geithner to lose his job Wednesday, becoming the first Capitol Hill lawmakers to call for his ouster over AIG's using tens of millions of taxpayer dollars for executive bonuses.
"Quite simply, the Timothy Geithner experience has been a disaster. The Treasury Department is in disarray. Taxpayer dollars are being wasted. America's economy hangs in the balance. America needs and deserves a treasury secretary who can truly lead us forward," Mack said in a written statement.
He called on Geithner, the former New York Federal Reserve chief, either to resign or be fired, and said President Obama should nominate a new secretary with "the experience and leadership skills America deserves."

I am sorry, but I have seen absolutely nothing from Tim Geithner that either inspires me or gives me any hope of seeing a reversal of American economic fortunes anytime in the next four weeks or four years. And neither have I been inspired by the goings on of our newly minted president and his socialist surge to utilize crisis as the axle grease to implement socialism on a scale not seen before or since FDR.
As I type this, congress is grilling Edward Liddy CEO of AIG and attempting to make nothing short of a grandstand play with public opinion over the recently revealed 165 million in AIG bonuses. Of course they are trying to portray the debacle as gross mismanagement by AIG. But what of the gross mismanagement of the people's business by the likes of congress? And specifically the democrats in congress who have been hell bent on punishing the American people for the past two years since they regained majority control?
It was Chris Dodd who made sure that the language in the bailout bill provided for these bonuses to be paid! Is there no one who sees this or is aware of the record and who was and is responsible for all this?
And now the most corrupt congress in the history of this country stands ready to pass legislation crafted by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and others, to literally impose a 100% confiscation tax on all monies paid to AIG executives after they (the democrats) were the ones that provided for it to happen in the first place!
Who will these brown shirt democrats come after next? This drama is literally bordering on a compilation of 1984 and Animal Farm and Atlas Shrugs all rolled into one!
God help us!
And Hallelujah! Shepherd Smith just nailed it on Fox! He pointed the right fingers and named the names today! He knows that this hearing is a sham and that the accusers are in fact the criminals who caused all this to begin with!
But will the people awake from their coma and step forward to put an end to this lunacy. Time is wasting and as each day passes, the giant of socialist government becomes stronger. Jefferson and Payne rightly knew and assessed what must be done to preserve this fragile union that they envisioned and gave birth to so long ago. and we are now in the midst of it as they saw it coming to pass.
The time for patriots is upon us and none are visible on the horizon. Not yet.

What Price What Value Service
I am a Vietnam veteran. An old corps oddity it now seems. I remember when I was a boy and the reverence that was visited upon the WWI veterans back then. Then came my father's era. He was a WWII veteran of combat in the south pacific. Now most of them are also gone. Only a few stragglers left to carry forth their flag into the present.
They are all mostly in their 80's now and dying by the hundreds everyday. More the better probably. More the better that they don't continue to live to see the aberrations that they never dreamed would be visited upon their beloved nation.
Which means that the mission of memory and the remembering of those who served now falls to my generation. A generation that was bastardized and forgotten during the years of their youth in the 1960's. We were dismissed and diminished while still in the flower of our youth and mired in the service of this nation. Veterans like myself? We were led to believe that ours was neither a noble or note worthy sacrifice or cause and that it was a memory best shunned and left in the shadows of darkness. Something best left neglected and forgotten.
Certainly nothing to be compared to the accomplishments of the greatest generation and the repelling of the Japanese hoards or the turning back of the Nazi fanatical crusade.
Our war was something that just fell out of step with the recollections of reverence or honored service. Not even the Korean veterans were treated to the ambiguity of indifference that was visited upon those of us who served in Vietnam. And so now comes full circle the reality of our sins of youth and the tragedy of our having loved and believed in our country.
Today we are once again weighed and measured and shown to come up wanting and lacking of the approved substance and value of our predecessors. Oh? We gave just as much and bled just as sincerely and left our brothers marked by the rows and rows of white crosses just like all those who passed in uniform before us. But now it was different. Now was the time for more than mere reflection or recompense or heart felt thanks or gratitude for services rendered. Guilt had to be assigned and it was.
And it is time to once again weigh and measure those purposely forgotten by fetid history and once again assign them the diminished value to that which was lost and that which was spent in their wasted service to this nation. And once again we and all those who served with them or supported them come up short.
Once again we are left wanting in the eyes of our countrymen. Once again we are left to wonder what it was that we did wrong and what it was that we could have done better. What was it that evaded us then and continues to elude us now. What price our honor and sacrifice? Will there ever be any acknowledgment at all for the lost generation that wonders why they were never equally loved ?
President Obama has voiced his opinion on American veterans this week. His true colors are showing through the facade and the mask that he put on last year during the campaign. I remember it well. I was a member of a group of past and present veterans back then. I remember watching and reading all the commentaries of supposed veteran patriots and their supporters who reveled at the thoughts of an Obama presidency. I read what they said while they trumped this man's shallow credentials and played up how much more he supposedly cared and how much more he supposedly meant to veterans and how much more he would supposedly do for them once he was president.
Well now he is president. And the first thing that he wants to do concerning veterans? Is turn his back on them and tell them up front that they need to look after themselves as it concerns their war related maladies. Let their insurance pay for it if they have it. Forget the age old premise of "service connected" becasue in the eyes of Barack Obama, there is no debt of payment owing to those who served. Debts of service obviously means little of nothing to a man that feels absolutely no connection to the military or those who serve or have served this country. The social baton has been passed to the future now it would appear.
Those that came after my generation have been raised and nurtured on the belief that there is nothing honorable in serving this country and certainly nothing owed. And consequently? There are no debts owed of honor or otherwise to those foolish enough to have worn her uniforms and sacrificed their lives in her service.
So beware my faithful servants in the uniforms of the present. The enemies of this nation not only inhabit foreign shores, but they are here too amongst us. They always have been. They were here in my youth and they remain now and they have raised up a following generation to continue their ire and hatred of you and I. And they seek to see all that are associated with the preservation of this country destroyed and cast asunder beneath the rainbow flags of one world government socialism.
They came for my generation and they continue to march toward that goal, but they are also coming for yours. All of you, present and future. All of you who feel that you have thus far escaped their wrath? Take heed, you haven't escaped their hatred. They despise you and everything that you represent. And when they cannot attack you opening and with force of numbers and the support of media? They will come after you via the insidious paths used to destroy that which sustains you. They will come after your faith, your honor, your family and your traditions. And they will not only attempt to steal your honor, but they will attempt to steal your earned rights of care that you bled the fields red earning.
For you see.....there is a difference between earning something and qualifying for it in their eyes. And you as veterans of this nations wars and conflicts have neither earned nor qualified for anything aside from the disdain in the eyes of the present socialist company that continues to despise you.

Selling Your Soul to The Devil
The metaphor has been with us for eons. Probably dating back to the recounting of the biblical tale of the serpent and the ultimate price exacted of Adam and Eve for a momentary pleasure in the garden of Eden.
But is there a realistic equivalent of selling your soul to the devil? Either directly or by proxy? Whereby an agreement or contract by which once entered into? There is no retraction and the error of your desire or greed is manifest everyday thereafter, as a day in and day out never ending reminder that your own self determination literally no longer belongs to you.
Well IMO? There is an existent state where that is very much the reality. It's a state where your individual self determination, both independently and collectively is taken and stripped away permanently.
What could this unique state of existence be you ask? It's relatively simple in principle and it has been with us in America since the early part of the 20th century. It's called "government money."
Pretty simple really. The government has the money? And if you want any of it? Then you have to dance to the tune that the imperial federal government plays for the benefit of taking their money. And the concessions for ever having taken that money in the first place can be permanent and irrevocable.
Hence the present dilemmas being played out right now in the news, as it concerns Obama's stimulus and TARP funds being dangled before the American people as the end all answer to their present misery and worries.
On the surface? The money may look good. It may appear as a way or possibly the only way to sustain ourselves or stay afloat locally. but the reality is much more dire. a number of republican governors have literally been looking the government mule gift horse in the mouth and balking at accepting stimulus funds. And they are balking because they see the long term costs and consequences of accepting the gift horse that the federal government wants to saddle them with.
And today it looks like a number of the banks, from Bank of America to WElls Fargo and more than a few others, are looking for a way to give back the TARP funds that they have already received, as it appears that the strings that go along with the funding are literally more than these independent banks are prepared to swallow.
The problem is? The people back at home? From those in the state house to those in the corporate board rooms? Well they never really pay attention to the special interests and socialists motivators who are drawing up these funding bills. and consequently, they don't pay attention to the long term obligations and loss of individual and states rights that are given away every time they sign off on accepting one of these federally funded bailouts or subsidies.
But they are learning..

Relativism
Relativism....and my opinion of it.
I began considering that this morning as I contemplated a posting on my friend Rick's blog "Brutally Honest." The premise presented was...."relativism is popular because it is easy." And the accompanying commentary seemingly supported that premise.
So off I went on my own personal examination of the premise and my own personal feelings and experiences as it concerns relativist theory. I wanted to see just how close the representations was to my own perception of relativism as opposed to the representation.
Specifically, the premise of "socialist relativism" and what that means and represents to contemporary America under the present day socialist revision and my own interpretation of it in that context. Relativism is probably the largest interjection of purposely initiated pointless angst, spurious misrepresentations and outright falsehoods ever perpetrated on our world to date IMO.
Yet the search for relativism seemingly drives the very existence of millions of people in this country daily. Not to mention a healthy academic cottage industry with socialism at the systemic foundation of all academic considerations of the supposedly enlightened relativist mind. I say that it seemingly drives the people in this country? Because I seriously doubt that our brothers in humanity (outside of the western conclaves of multicultural relativism and socialist academia), have ever seriously given a rat's ass of thought to the consequences of belly button lint, or the myriad of other supposed social crisis' that flood the conscious thought processes of the relativist and his real life mentors the academic political socialist revolutionaries daily.
I myself have spoken and lectured (privately) of the dangers of what relativism is and what it represents to all who might listen and learn over the years, but I am no academic. I have equally preached against socialism and it's demonic pull and drag on the otherwise reasoned minds of otherwise sane individuals for most of my awakened life, but I am no clergyman.
I have railed against relativism and it's socialist birth right of secular division and derision, but I am no politician. I have revealed the social relativist and demonstrated the corrupting vice of relativist thinking for precisely the depth of danger that it represents to all of mankind who will listen. Yet it remains as one of the recurring lies absent of truth sprung before our eyes repeatedly and endlessly and as if some surrealist and never ending loop of nonsequitur consciousness propels it along and into our lives as absolute fact.
Mean while, I am but one small squeak in the background noise of the big bang that we seem to think represents all collective and reasoned thinking in this country.
In the limited world of my own non relativist comprehension and in my own inconsequential existence, I have absolutely no need or requirement for what I will call the "uber-existentialism" that ravages the minds of most supposed learned and sentient beings in America today.
I don't mentally languish needlessly in the self created mire of worry and apprehension that many seem to willingly and daily heap upon themselves in the form pf perceived social injustice. These things of philosophical mezmerization simply don't worry or concern me like the do others; therefore, my own ignorance must truly be bliss, because I absolutely refuse to be weighted down with the meaningless drama of relativist angst over being..
An example:
If a tree falls in the woods? And no one is there to hear it? Does it make a sound? This question has been labored by the uber-existentialist for eons. And yet the simplicity of the reality seems to continue to propel the paradox of non thinkers, as if this is some mind shaking and earth shattering question that must decisively be determined once and for all. Before the collective mind of mankind turns into mush and the entire planet implodes as a result.
While I would maintain that the collective mind of man has already turned into mush and one of the main reasons and primary examples of the human mush mind? Is the consistent brooding over uber-existentialism and the pointless ramblings of the relativist socialist who generate all the angst to begin with!
The correct answer to the question of the "Matrix" dilemma of whether to take the blue or red pill of relativism, is and always has been......."who gives a shit!" It's not real! It's a purposely fabricated illusion, for the single greatest motive of attempting to justify socialism as a realistic alternative to common sense and reason!
The relativist socialist matrix world is a man made creation of the mind and it represents absolutely nothing more than the drama that it was intended to create in the first place as a diversion from reality. Yet it's existence as an analogy serves to illustrate clearly the thought patterns and misfired synapses of the "uber-existentialist" IMO. They truly belief that they exist in some paralell universe and that the rest of us are mentally cocconed in an alternate reality from which they must rescue us.
What will change by knowing that which is pointless to know? What will not change by knowing or not knowing that which is pointless to know or not know? Is there a point to knowing all things irrelevant philosophically? Is there a point where one literally becomes one with the Keano Reeves' character Neo and understand the real meaning of life?
I for one don't think so. And aside from the depths of depravity that some people's minds seem to be more than comfortable operating in, I am quite sure that I don't care to share their existentialism, uber or otherwise.
There are plenty of things happening in this world daily to concern and scare the shit out of me, without me having to create dilemmas in my mind over what is in essence adolescent fiction and drama or adult roll playing games at best.
Relativism isn't popular because it is easy. Relativism has been popularized because it appears to give meaning to the otherwise meaningless ramblings of a pseudo supposed social consciousness.
Relativism is nothing more than an alternative to the reasoned mind and the human spirit that dwells in all of us but is ignored. All of us who have not been so completely and thoroughly corrupted by the secular world of denial of our own creation and of our maker, know the answers and we understand the point when the questions being asked are both pointless and dangerous.
So no...I don't dwell on the socialist and arcane meanderings of those like Saul Alinsky or Ward Churchill and the endless list of others like minded throughout history. I don't concern myself with or lose sleep over the convoluted queries of whether the depraved mind of a homicide bomber was created though lack of a two parent upbringing or a proper nurture versus nature environment as a child.
It is enough for me to know that his useless life has been expended in the only meaningful way possible for one so absent any presence of a spark of humanity.
Likewise, I find myself at peace contemplating the untimely demise of all who would similarly attempt to deprive me or mine our lives based upon the sublime visions of the practitioners of Allah and the 72 virgins.
I tend to think more of them and their faith as Ali Babba and the 400 million thieves. Those who would just as soon take our lives and in doing so, be not even gracious or appreciative that the relativist and the socialist among us had expedited their victory and our defeat in their be half.
So to answer the uber-existentialist and the social relativist and their curiosity concerning my thinking on the matter of relativism?
"What would happen if you pitched an uber-existentialist and a socialist relativist off the Empire State building at the same time? And which would hit the ground first?"
Survey says! Who Cares!
Praise be to Allah that they would quickly transition to their next level of existential entitlement. And let there be no worry here among the living concerning either their own future journey, or our work in expediting their future journey to their brothers and sisters!
As for me and my part? And the relativism of my reality?
I am just keeping it only as real as I know it to be.

So off I went on my own personal examination of the premise and my own personal feelings and experiences as it concerns relativist theory. I wanted to see just how close the representations was to my own perception of relativism as opposed to the representation.
Specifically, the premise of "socialist relativism" and what that means and represents to contemporary America under the present day socialist revision and my own interpretation of it in that context. Relativism is probably the largest interjection of purposely initiated pointless angst, spurious misrepresentations and outright falsehoods ever perpetrated on our world to date IMO.
Yet the search for relativism seemingly drives the very existence of millions of people in this country daily. Not to mention a healthy academic cottage industry with socialism at the systemic foundation of all academic considerations of the supposedly enlightened relativist mind. I say that it seemingly drives the people in this country? Because I seriously doubt that our brothers in humanity (outside of the western conclaves of multicultural relativism and socialist academia), have ever seriously given a rat's ass of thought to the consequences of belly button lint, or the myriad of other supposed social crisis' that flood the conscious thought processes of the relativist and his real life mentors the academic political socialist revolutionaries daily.
I myself have spoken and lectured (privately) of the dangers of what relativism is and what it represents to all who might listen and learn over the years, but I am no academic. I have equally preached against socialism and it's demonic pull and drag on the otherwise reasoned minds of otherwise sane individuals for most of my awakened life, but I am no clergyman.
I have railed against relativism and it's socialist birth right of secular division and derision, but I am no politician. I have revealed the social relativist and demonstrated the corrupting vice of relativist thinking for precisely the depth of danger that it represents to all of mankind who will listen. Yet it remains as one of the recurring lies absent of truth sprung before our eyes repeatedly and endlessly and as if some surrealist and never ending loop of nonsequitur consciousness propels it along and into our lives as absolute fact.
Mean while, I am but one small squeak in the background noise of the big bang that we seem to think represents all collective and reasoned thinking in this country.
In the limited world of my own non relativist comprehension and in my own inconsequential existence, I have absolutely no need or requirement for what I will call the "uber-existentialism" that ravages the minds of most supposed learned and sentient beings in America today.
I don't mentally languish needlessly in the self created mire of worry and apprehension that many seem to willingly and daily heap upon themselves in the form pf perceived social injustice. These things of philosophical mezmerization simply don't worry or concern me like the do others; therefore, my own ignorance must truly be bliss, because I absolutely refuse to be weighted down with the meaningless drama of relativist angst over being..
An example:
If a tree falls in the woods? And no one is there to hear it? Does it make a sound? This question has been labored by the uber-existentialist for eons. And yet the simplicity of the reality seems to continue to propel the paradox of non thinkers, as if this is some mind shaking and earth shattering question that must decisively be determined once and for all. Before the collective mind of mankind turns into mush and the entire planet implodes as a result.
While I would maintain that the collective mind of man has already turned into mush and one of the main reasons and primary examples of the human mush mind? Is the consistent brooding over uber-existentialism and the pointless ramblings of the relativist socialist who generate all the angst to begin with!
The correct answer to the question of the "Matrix" dilemma of whether to take the blue or red pill of relativism, is and always has been......."who gives a shit!" It's not real! It's a purposely fabricated illusion, for the single greatest motive of attempting to justify socialism as a realistic alternative to common sense and reason!
The relativist socialist matrix world is a man made creation of the mind and it represents absolutely nothing more than the drama that it was intended to create in the first place as a diversion from reality. Yet it's existence as an analogy serves to illustrate clearly the thought patterns and misfired synapses of the "uber-existentialist" IMO. They truly belief that they exist in some paralell universe and that the rest of us are mentally cocconed in an alternate reality from which they must rescue us.
What will change by knowing that which is pointless to know? What will not change by knowing or not knowing that which is pointless to know or not know? Is there a point to knowing all things irrelevant philosophically? Is there a point where one literally becomes one with the Keano Reeves' character Neo and understand the real meaning of life?
I for one don't think so. And aside from the depths of depravity that some people's minds seem to be more than comfortable operating in, I am quite sure that I don't care to share their existentialism, uber or otherwise.
There are plenty of things happening in this world daily to concern and scare the shit out of me, without me having to create dilemmas in my mind over what is in essence adolescent fiction and drama or adult roll playing games at best.
Relativism isn't popular because it is easy. Relativism has been popularized because it appears to give meaning to the otherwise meaningless ramblings of a pseudo supposed social consciousness.
Relativism is nothing more than an alternative to the reasoned mind and the human spirit that dwells in all of us but is ignored. All of us who have not been so completely and thoroughly corrupted by the secular world of denial of our own creation and of our maker, know the answers and we understand the point when the questions being asked are both pointless and dangerous.
So no...I don't dwell on the socialist and arcane meanderings of those like Saul Alinsky or Ward Churchill and the endless list of others like minded throughout history. I don't concern myself with or lose sleep over the convoluted queries of whether the depraved mind of a homicide bomber was created though lack of a two parent upbringing or a proper nurture versus nature environment as a child.
It is enough for me to know that his useless life has been expended in the only meaningful way possible for one so absent any presence of a spark of humanity.
Likewise, I find myself at peace contemplating the untimely demise of all who would similarly attempt to deprive me or mine our lives based upon the sublime visions of the practitioners of Allah and the 72 virgins.
I tend to think more of them and their faith as Ali Babba and the 400 million thieves. Those who would just as soon take our lives and in doing so, be not even gracious or appreciative that the relativist and the socialist among us had expedited their victory and our defeat in their be half.
So to answer the uber-existentialist and the social relativist and their curiosity concerning my thinking on the matter of relativism?
"What would happen if you pitched an uber-existentialist and a socialist relativist off the Empire State building at the same time? And which would hit the ground first?"
Survey says! Who Cares!
Praise be to Allah that they would quickly transition to their next level of existential entitlement. And let there be no worry here among the living concerning either their own future journey, or our work in expediting their future journey to their brothers and sisters!
As for me and my part? And the relativism of my reality?
I am just keeping it only as real as I know it to be.

Are Michael Steele's Days Numbered?
Based upon the continuing reports of his most recent gaffe on abortion? I would tend to agree, his days as party chairman are numbered. Personally, I have never seen the great interest invested in Michael Steele. Granted, he is the former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, but aside from that? He has never demonstrated that clear or concise conservative voice from the black perspective that I believe many feel he was supposed to represent.
His recent selection as chairman of the republican party, strikes me as about the same category of choice as Sarah Palin was for VP for John McCain. Not that she was a bad choice or the wrong choice? But maybe she was the less than right choice for the obvious reasons intended. I believe the same is becoming true for Michael Steele. He wasn't voted in as the chairman of the republican party based upon his unique and outstanding qualifications.
He was selected IMO and in the opinion of many others in the party, as more of the GOP response to the election of a black president who is representing the democrat party, than one of any overwhelming qualification. And as has been observed by many in the interim since his selection, Steele just keeps stumbling from one political trap to the other in the media. And quite frankly? I don't think or believe that he is up to the task of evading the media slings and arrows that quite naturally are being lofted by the liberal media as a result of his selection to lead the party. Michael Steele may very well be a intelligent and nice fellow on an individual basis? But I personally believe that he is out of his depth and in over his head as the leader of the republican party.
Steele's Time May Be Short
A day after a magazine quoted him as saying abortion was "an individual choice," GOP Chairman Michael Steele may soon be toast.
A leading conservative called Steele's remarks in the magazine "cavalier and flippant," underscoring the new chairman's precarious position with party regulars concerned about his off-the-cuff style and penchant for miscues.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee called the remarks "very troubling" and said in a blog posting, "despite his clarification today the party stands to lose many of its members and a great deal of its support in the trenches of grass-roots politics. For Chairman Steele to even infer that taking a life is totally left up to the individual is not only a reversal of Republican policy and principle, but it's a violation of the most basic of human rights -- the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
Steele, who was adopted, told GQ magazine that his mother had the option of getting an abortion or giving birth to him.
"The choice issue cuts two ways," Steele said in the wide-ranging interview published online Wednesday. "You can choose life, or you can choose abortion. You know, my mother chose life."
Asked whether he thought women had the right to choose abortion, Steele said: "Yeah. I mean, again, I think that's an individual choice."
Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Democrat who is chairman of the National Governors Association, said Thursday, "Do [Republicans] want a chairman who is basically pro-choice? Not on your life. They won't permit it."
"Michael Steele's days are numbered," Rendell said. "Fortunately for us, his days are numbered."
