A nationwide alert has been issued for 17 members of the Afghan military who have gone AWOL from a Texas Air Force base where foreign military officers who are training to become pilots are taught English, FoxNews.com has learned.
The Afghan officers and enlisted men have security badges that give them access to secure U.S. defense installations, according to the lookout bulletin, "Afghan Military Deserters in CONUS [Continental U.S.]," issued by Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Dallas, and obtained by FoxNews.com.
That's right, you read correctly. There are seventeen Afghans roaming around America with military security clearance ID's and no one seems to know what happened to them or where they went or where they are.
As each day passes, the spill in the gulf of Mexico worsens and what do we have ruling the sensibilities of those in charge of trying to address the disaster?
"It's the most frustrating thing," the Republican governor said today in Buras, La. "Literally, yesterday morning we found out that they were halting all of these barges."

Sixteen barges sat stationary today, although they were sucking up thousands of gallons of BP's oil as recently as Tuesday. Workers in hazmat suits and gas masks pumped the oil out of the Louisiana waters and into steel tanks. It was a homegrown idea that seemed to be effective at collecting the thick gunk.
"These barges work. You've seen them work. You've seen them suck oil out of the water," said Jindal.
So why stop now?
"The Coast Guard came and shut them down," Jindal said. "You got men on the barges in the oil, and they have been told by the Coast Guard, 'Cease and desist. Stop sucking up that oil.'"
A Coast Guard representative told ABC News today that it shares the same goal as the governor.
"We are all in this together. The enemy is the oil," said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Dan Lauer.
But the Coast Guard ordered the stoppage because of reasons that Jindal found frustrating. The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges.
Yep....you read that right., the United States Coast Guard shut down oil sucking barges in the gulf? Because they didn't have enough life preservers and fire extinguishers.
Is there any lunacy that surpasses the federal government? If so please drop me a line and let me know what it is.
Nothing to see here folks, move along now, just more of that right wing extremism and them knee jerk conspiracy theories at work here. Everything is under control, the government is here to help.
Just look at how well they are handling that mess down in the gulf. Ah...scratch that. Just look at how well they are handling the increase in global terrorism. Ah....scratch that.
Just look at how well they are handling unemployment and a rising deficit laboring under a fizzling economy and a recovery that remains illusive if not dead on arrival.
Well scratch that too. Just pay attention to this new bill that is being passed and will be signed into law for your benefit. Many like Rosey O'Donnell and Bill Mayer and Sean Penn and a host of others in Hollywood, can't wait until Obama is given (or takes) dictatorial province over this nation and it's people. And what better way to begin that process, than by handing over the the keys to the cyber kingdom to a president who knows how to both use and limit information to his benefit.
Certainly he wouldn't do anything outside of his altruistic campaign rhetoric and the constitution now would he. Surely not. I mean unless of course there was some sort of crisis, then of course, we could all easily understand how his reactions to limiting the internet would be for purely national security reasons.And Janet Napolitano would never declare a national security emergency unless there was one? Right?
The federal government would have “absolute power” to shut down the Internet under the terms of a new US Senate bill being pushed by Joe Lieberman, legislation which would hand President Obama a figurative “kill switch” to seize control of the world wide web in response to a Homeland Security directive.
Lieberman has been pushing for government regulation of the Internet for years under the guise of cybersecurity, but this new bill goes even further in handing emergency powers over to the feds which could be used to silence free speech under the pretext of a national emergency.
“The legislation says that companies such as broadband providers, search engines or software firms that the US Government selects “shall immediately comply with any emergency measure or action developed” by the Department of Homeland Security. Anyone failing to comply would be fined,” reports ZDNet’s Declan McCullagh.
The 197-page bill (PDF) is entitled Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act, or PCNAA.
Technology lobbying group TechAmerica warned that the legislation created “the potential for absolute power,” while the Center for Democracy and Technology worried that the bill’s emergency powers “include authority to shut down or limit internet traffic on private systems.”
The bill has the vehement support of Senator Jay Rockefeller, who last year asked during a congressional hearing, “Would it had been better if we’d have never invented the Internet?” while fearmongering about cyber-terrorists preparing attacks.
At least there were a number of Brits on the scene willing to stand up and be heard in defense of their soldiers. Other reports by British media indicated that many of these Muslims were spitting at the troops and hurling constant insults and attacks.
A solitary Marine holds vigil at full attention during the Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally in tribute to fallen comrades. 3000 vets on motorcycles from across the USA paraded in D.C. the Sunday before Memorial Day, while a solitary, saluting Marine greeted them out on Constitution Avenue. The Marine stood at salute for 3 straight ...hours, while the parade of roaring bikes kept on coming. It is held in remembrance of those who've fallen in the military. The camera is on the Marine a lot. Watch his struggles with his emotions, and his struggles with holding that salute. The way he salutes is very touching; his head lowered, his eyes down, in reverence for the fallen. It got to be overwhelming for him...and the tears started flowing, but keeps right on holding that salute.
Thousands of people were lining the streets. It was May 29, Rolling Thunder Sunday in Washington, D.C., and the Run For The Wall was about to start. Impatiently pacing, I was scanning the crowds for one individual in particular, a Marine in full dress uniform. This particular marine had captured my curiosity. For the past several years, I had seen him in his dress uniform standing on the double yellow lines holding a salute for every biker in the Thunder procession. He would stand at attention from start to finish. This was a feat that would last over four hours and display the meaning of intestinal fortitude. I was on a quest to talk to this marine. I had tried in vain calling all the usual suspects from the Marine Corps, but no one knew anything on the subject. Only later did I find out this marine was a lone wolf, not a sanctioned poster boy for The Corps.
Noon was fast approaching and you could hear the collective roar of bikes getting ready to run their pilgrimage. I took one more long look around the corner of Constitution Avenue and then I saw him. Moving with a half swagger and half march, the marine approached, his family in tow, and he headed toward his appointed spot just shy of the turn onto Constitution. As he walked you could hear the loud shouts of "Semper Fi" which were in turn answered with a guttural "hoorah!" Along the way, he shook hands and stopped often to kneel down and talk to kids. You could feel his energy as he drew nearer and heard him speak. His demeanor was stern, but kind, and when he spoke he looked directly into your eyes. With a firm handshake, he agreed to give me a few minutes at the end of the run after the last bike rolled by. I in turn assured him a cold bottle of water when he was done. I knew he would need it.
A giant rock of a man was assigned to help guide motorcycles to the left and right, a road guard if you will. The marine began to take his position in the center of the street when a young boy wearing a Marines shirt walked up to him and in the blink of an eye, they were doing push-ups in the middle of the road. Suddenly, the call came out that the Run For The Wall was about to start. People were quickly cleared from the street. The roar of machines grew louder and the unrelenting lines of bikes appeared. In one smooth mechanical motion, the lone marine cocked his salute as bikes began to roll by.
The marine is Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers. I spoke to his mom, Diane Desantis, his grandmother Anne Desantis, his girlfriend, Mariam Ebrahimi and his buddy Nathan Linkof. Tim was one of six kids in a very active household. He came from a lineage of military folks as his father was a marine in Vietnam and his grandfather was in the Coast Guard in World War II. Tim?s family came from the small town of Silverton, Oregon.
Tim spends hundreds of hours helping out various charities, advocates for veterans' benefits and their causes and visits veterans' hospitals. Tim's card explains what he is all about. He is starting a charitable organization called "Tim-for-America" whose centerpiece is, "improving the quality of life of our youth, the less fortunate and heroic veterans." His aim is ambitious, but simple: Get people involved and volunteer to help.
After more than four hours, the last bikes finally came over the bridge and slowed down to pass by Tim. When the last escort motorcycle rode by, Tim cracked his salute in perfect military precision. He did a left face and walked toward his family. The surrounding crowds erupted into applause and people came from everywhere to shake Tim's hand and thank him. He would in turn thank every person for being there. Although sweating, Tim seemed no worse for the wear.
Tim explained that for several years, when he was stationed in D.C., he would wear his uniform during Rolling Thunder and walk around talking to people. He would shake hands and thank veterans and their families. He listened to their stories and their plights. Tim decided that he wanted to do something to show that he cared. He spontaneously, in full uniform, stepped into the road during Rolling Thunder 2002 and gave his salute to the riders in the Run For The Wall. The next couple of years his spontaneous salute evolved in to a planned event. This year, he was invited by The Rolling Thunder organization, which flew his family in from Oregon and Tim from 29 Palms, California. As I walked away, it struck me that I hadn't asked the most important question. I turned around and called him, "Sergeant Chambers, why the salute?" His response was effortless and profound, "It's about the pain. A lot of these heroic guys still hurt and if I can relieve their pain for just one brief moment, then I've done my job."
Some will recall, that I have made this prediction several times over the past several months and the past year in my blog. I predicted the Mexican crime and the drug cartels would spill over our borders and bring their crime, death and terror to our side of the border in masses and wholesale. And now that reality is coming to pass. And you know what? It will get worse and Americans will die as a result of it. A lot of Americans will die.
When are we as Americans going to stand up and demand that something be done about our borders? This problem isn't just on the border now folks, these heathen criminals are now eighty miles deep inside our country, operating with impunity and our federal government absolutely refuses to intercede or interfere. The local authorities have witnessed them operating as paramilitary units with automatic weapons and the local authorities have begged for federal troops to be sent in to protect our borders. All of which has fallen on deaf ears.
Yes friends, we have now literally ceded an eighty mile deep, three county swath of American sovereign soil to Mexico and their armed terrorist drug cartels. And this nation and it's federal government and it's president have done nothing and are continuing to do nothing about it!
The critiques are in and the president's speech from the Oval office last night was about as well received by liberal media as it was across the heartland. Which was not well at all.
At first I thought that it was just me again, but when I see Chris Matthews and Kieth Olbermann literally rabid with animosity toward the guy that gave them tingling feelings up their legs twenty months ago? Well that is when I know that the first hustler from Chi town is in serious political trouble.
After watching that video and then looking at the president's daily popularity rating, is there any wonder why this guy is tanking? He has basically sat on his hands while allowing Reid and Pelosi to craft his legislative policies in congress. Meanwhile, his most visible actions over the past twenty months have been to take trips abroad, apologize for America and bow to every Tom, Dick and Harry that he comes across.
And now his first speech from the Oval office on a crisis that is well past fifty days in the making and all he talks about are his metaphors of comparison of the crisis with wars and plagues.
The man is unquestionably out of touch with America and out of touch with what is going on with the crisis of the oil spill in the gulf. When the mainstream media and their liberal lead personalities are coming after you? Then there is most certainly a problem.
Make no mistake, these people would love to continue to beat their drums and demonize the Bush administration, but not even they can do that in the face of what this president's failures have been and continue to be.
This disaster is only going to get worse and this presidency is only going to get worse. Last night was the time for this president to demonstrate that mysterious leadership that is often talked about, but once again all we got was a straw man who not only had no answers or reassurances, but even his mannerisms and his ability to control and use his hands while speaking is noticeably suspect. And the media saw it. Matthews comparisons of Obama to Jimmy Carter were both prescient and palpable IMO.
There is more than oil in the water now, there is blood in the water and as these MSM pit bulls become more and more infuriated that their guy (the guy they supported) is making them out to be damn fools, the more they will tear at the facade and expose Obama for what he is.
IMO, of all the idiocy of the speech last night and the use of inappropriate mixed metaphors, the thing that truly rankles my sensibilities (and apparently those of more than a few dozen million other Americans), is that this president somehow sees this crisis as the catalyst for him to get his cap and trade and carbon taxes through congress.
Excuse me.....but has the man not been paying attention to the recent primaries and election results all across this country? Does he not understand that any taxation right now on struggling Americans is going to be viewed by them as a kick to the stomach and a purposeful one?
The man is out of his mind in my opinion and the leadership of the republican party had better take notice of the opportunities being literally given them by this president.
Tens of thousands of Americans are suffering all along the gulf coast as a result of this oil spill disaster and millions more are still suffering in unemployment lines, because this president turned his back on them to pursue his health care agenda. And now he is openly turning his back on them again and using this disaster as a means and stepping stone to further another of his agendas.
It is chapter and verse from the Rahn Emanual David Axelrod playbook of not letting a good crisis go to waste, but it overlooks the obvious. The people of America are onto the scheme now and so is the mainstream media. Barack Obama will get no free passes on this now and if he tries to ram cap and trade and carbon taxes through congress while the gulf continues to bleed oil and America continues to bleed jobs and GDP? Then he best be turning his head nightly to the windows of the White House and begin looking for the mobs with torches on the horizon as they approach.
