Who's running Haiti? No one, say the people
Desperate Haitians turned rubble-strewn streets and parks into makeshift hospitals and refugee camps on Thursday in the absence of any noticeable response from authorities in Haiti after Tuesday's earthquake.
There are many who might agree, that America is already in a similar boat with Haiti as it applies to the lack of leadership being demonstrated by this administration. They might argue that we don't have any real leadership and that as each day passes, our ship of state drifts ever farther from the safe harbors that have been cultivated over the past two hundred years to both protect us and insure our survivability. And I as one observer would whole heartedly agree with that assessment.
But the reality of the absence of leadership in government in Haiti and how that parallels our own sad state of affairs presently, only leads to a greater contemplation in my opinion. "What would happen, if a similar event were to take place in America? On the mainland?" Something so devastating, as to have never been seen before.
Some might say....well it already has happened. Look no further than hurricane Katrina and the devastation wrought there. But Katrina level disaster is not what I am contemplating. No more I am sure, than the people of Haiti were contemplating the worst earthquake in recorded history striking their island a week ago.
No.....what I am contemplating and considering while I watch the aftermath of disaster in Haiti is this. What would it be like here in America. What would it be like if a calamity a hundred times worse than Katrina were to befall us as it has Haiti.
There are those of course who fear the great calamity of the super volcano that resides below Yellowstone and it's potential to end life as we know it on this planet. I have read of its existence and watched the informational documentaries produced by today's entertainment media. They would like us all to believe that such a disaster is looming right around the corner. Probably to be brought on by global warming or climate change or our collective failure to recycle and eliminate plastic grocery bags.
But what are the realities of such an event happening? What are the real potentials? What are the probabilities of something very terrible being visited upon our nation by mother nature? Or worse? Personally? I'd say that the odds are better than even. For those unfamiliar with predictability and odds making.......even odds means that there is a 50/50 chance of occurrence. Which on the surface may represent a "fair chance." An oxymoron if there ever was one, but none the less, I'd say that our odds of escaping such a disaster are presently 50/50 at best and worsening by the day.
There are lessons to be learned from the disaster unfolding before our eyes in Haiti. And one of the first lessons that began to unfold yesterday, was the complete collapse of society and the rampaging and looting that is now in progress. That reality took less than 48 hours to surface and the 72 hour mark is when the very real sense of corruption and decomposition and disease will settle in over the aftermath.
But even in the face of the facts that there may be as many as half a million dead and disease rampant, there will be those rampaging through the streets and taking advantage of death and disaster. And the only thing that will begin to present balance or the ability to rein in or control the violence, will be the presence of the American military and American workers who have been brought in to hopefully stop it and restore order.
Which logically should beg the question? Who is capable of rescuing America should a mega disaster strike us? And there lies the reality that should be smacking most Americans in the face as they watch the horrors of Haiti unfolding. There is no one who is either capable or willing to come to our aid should the great beast that is America be felled, either by natural disaster or consequence of error.
Anyone remember the billions in foreign aid that poured into America in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina? Me neither. Anyone ever remember seeing or hearing of other nations that came running to help us during times of crisis or disaster? I don't seem to recall any. I don't seem to recall any fund raisers or bake sales going on in the middle east or Europe in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks either.
On the contrary, I seem to recall mostly a collective global gasp and a panicked fear of anticipation, as to what the Americans would do and how would they handle it. And of course there were the longing eyes and outstretched hands of the rest of the world. Out stretched in anticipation of receiving more mana from the great Satan that someone had just struck out against and wounded.
But I digress.
Getting back to the present reality, the point that I am making is simply this. If America is struck with an event so massive as to devastate a single region of the country, or heaven forbid, several regions of the country? How will we survive. How will we fare any better than what we are seeing presently in Haiti. And who will become our rescuers?
Every American should be contemplating that right now IMO. As they should be contemplating the consequences of our present foreign policy as it concerns Islamic terrorism and what that really represents to this country.
Osama Bin Ladin promised over five years ago, that he would one day see his "American Hiroshima" project brought to reality. And since 9/11, America and the world have stood back and mostly watched as those capable of making his dreams a reality, reach ever closer to the day when Bin Ladin's dream becomes our nightmare.
Something interesting happened yesterday IMO. The Doomsday clock was reset (back) one minute. Everyone gave a collective sigh of relief, signifying that globally we had moved one step farther away from Armageddon as a planet. But what these same people failed to see IMO, is that America's Doomsday clock was set forward by another minute.
While the collectivist sheep of global socialism sighed in relief that the policies of retreat and surrender by America's president have seemingly given them hope, what they failed to realize is that these same policies will lead to a far more dire future than their fears could imagine.
A weakened America doesn't represent hope for anyone other than those who seek to do us harm. And once that harm has been unleashed there will be no reconciliation with the reality and the aftermath of having suffered fools.
Yes America.....sit back and watch and learn as it concerns the terrible aftermath of Haiti. For this is what looms in our not too distant future. Look at the pictures of Haiti America. Looks surreal doesn't it, looks like the aftermath of Hiroshima doesn't it. And yes, it will happen here.

Probably going to be the New Madrid Fault.
Over a two month period, Dec 1811-Feb 1812, had four events estimated at over 8 Richter magnitude scale. If population were same then as today over 1,000,000 people would have died. Bridges crossing Miss. river will come down... etc.
It is getting ready to go again... signs are all over the place here is the area.
Memphis will be no more... half of St Louis will be gone... nation cut in half... the entire Miss delta devastated...
You amy be right, I have heard about the new Madrid scenario before. But I believe our disaster will be one of man made origins.
Kinda like the one's big sis Napolitano talks about?
No doubt... the radicals around would much rather have their hand on the grinder!
I'm just hoping we can get their hand stuck in the grinder itself!
But I think you are right... something is coming down... it's in the air... you can smell it.
