Live from death row

For those unfamiliar, thirty years ago, a Philadelphia police officer was gunned down by a black panther named Mumia Abu-Jamal (born Wesley Cook). Mumia's case has taken on celebrity status and legions of leftist and Hollywood fringe players have beaten the drum for Mumia's release ever since.

Well, it looks like they will finally get their wish. Mumia will be released and soon.

A U.S. appeals court is awarding death-row activist Mumia Abu-Jamal a new sentencing hearing in the 1981 murder of a Philadelphia police officer.

Tuesday's ruling is the latest in the former Black Panther's long-running legal saga.

The 58-year-old Mumia's first-degree murder conviction stands in the fatal shooting of Officer Daniel Faulkner.

But the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is upholding its earlier ruling that the death-penalty instructions to the jury were unclear at Mumia's 1982 trial.

The U.S. Supreme Court last year ordered the court to review that decision.

The three-judge panel is standing by its decision after hearing a new round of legal arguments.

This ruling places Mumia one step away from freedom. All that is required is a new sentencing hearing (in the now predominantly black city of Philadelphia) and Mumia will be released on time served. Remember where you heard that first.

If you have been out of touch for a while with mainstream leftist causes, go have a look and read up on the man for yourself. Mumia Abu-Jamal at Wikipedia It is utterly amazing the celebrity this murderer has attained via socialist and Marxist causes and supporters.
