GOP Game Plan For Sotomayer is Absolutley Amazing

Republicans Begin to Find Voice on Racial Aspects of Sotomayor Nomination

I knew the moment that I read that headline, that I was in for an epiphany of republican thinking on the Sotomayer nomination. And I wasn't disappointed.

For all intents and purposes? It appears that the GOP has reached a consensus to forfeit all right of claim to Sotomayer's racism. Opting instead for alternating between chastising the former speaker of the house (Newt Gingrich) for his assertions that she is racist, and whining and bemoaning the fact that their guy (Miguel Estrada) was previously blued, screwed and tattooed by the democrats and their filibuster of his appointment to the federal bench.

I am studying these new GOP tactics very hard. And for the life of me? I don't get it. I fail to see the logic. How does lamenting the GOP loss of Miguel Estrada's nomination to the federal bench, combined with the velvet glove treatment of Sotomayer's racism work to any advantage? All it does do, is give the democrats all of the advantage and momentum and it amounts to an absolute losing strategy for defeating the Sotomayer nomination period.

As I have already determined and commented on previously, the GOP has rolled quicker than a crocodile in a death spiral on this nomination. There is no fight left in the GOP, because there is no leadership and there is no consensus of unity of thinking or believing in conservatism in the party period. The GOP has completely forfeited any right to claim conservative principles IMO. And this consensus of approache to the Sotomayer nomination just solidifies that reality to me.

Right now, the GOP is allowing the democrats to call the tune, much as they did throughout the majority of the Bush administration. We no longer see the drive or determination of party leaders that we saw fifteen years ago under Gingrich and the contract with America. The GOP can't even seem to muster as cohesive unity to deal with the lunatic Nancy Pelosi, so how in hell does anyone expect them to come up with anything even remotely approaching a consensus on how to recapture the interest and support of the American people. The GOP is a defeated party currently live out a self fulfilling and self defeated prophesy of "we want to be liked by everybody" and we will forfeit all of our priniciples to that end. That seems more important to them than anything remotely approaching their obligations to the voters who put them there based upon supposed conservative values..

I for one believe that it is time to declare and admit that the republican party is done. Put a fork in it and be done with it, it's over. The time has arrived to either tear the party down completely and rebuild it from the ground up, or just let it slip away into oblivion where it is headed by its own hand anyway.

How Did Your Date Go Last Night?

How did your date go last night? A reasonable question right? Something that might be heard around the water cooler on any given morning.

But come Monday morning, how many Americans will be concerned about the president's New York date with wife Michelle Saturday night. Not that it should really matter, aside from the fact that we paid for it. As we pay for anything involving any president.

It is certainly one thing for the president to take a weekend at Camp David or a weekend in Crawford, or even a fund raising trip to Las Vegas, as this president did last week. But when you crank up Air Force One and all the Secret Service war wagons that go with that, just for a night on the town with the wife in New York?

Well surely that will turn some heads in the heartland. Right? Surely the 6 1/2 million Americans that have lost their jobs in the past six months might notice something like that. Surely those staring down foreclosures and the loss of their own jobs in the next six months must have noticed. Surely those who watched their life savings and their retirement accounts lose 40 percent in the last year and who cannot afford a simple night on the town must have noticed.

I wonder. I seriously do. I wonder if the American people are making the connections with what they are seeing and what they are being allowed to see by media, as it concerns their president and the goings on in Washington over the past three and a half months. I wonder when they are going to stand up and demand accountability and responsibility. I wonder when they are going to stand up and say enough is enough! We are dying out here! We have to live within our means and now we can't even do that and yet those in Washington and the president are continuing the high life, as if nothing is the matter and no one should be concerned.

The people will one day tire of it that is for sure. They always do. And the people will one day turn on not only their elected representatives in Washington, but also their tormentors on the television and the radio and yes even those in media on the Internet. The news papers have already felt the wrath and the major television networks are also beginning to melt away financially under the reality that the people are no longer buying what they are selling.

So how long before it becomes bare bones basics? Bare knuckle reporting and investigative reports of the corruption as it should be? A good place to begin in my opinion is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Look no further than there to see the corrupted thinking of champagne socialism at it's extremes.

While you and I (the cake eaters) are languishing in the throes of the worst recession in living memory and one that that threatens our very existence and the future of our families, these others in Washington (the cheese eaters) are enjoying the ride on our dime and literally laughing in our faces.

I hope the president and the missus enjoyed their date and night on the town in New York last night. Last month was my twenty fifth wedding anniversary and my wife and I had no date or celebration with a night out. Not that we couldn't have afforded it or that we didn't have the money. We just felt that it wasn't prudent in today's world of not knowing what tomorrow will bring, to be frivolous with our finances. Not even for an anniversary. How many others are there that didn't even have to debate the issue with themselves. They simply can't afford any extravagance.

I wonder when (if ever) those we have elected to represent us are going to get the point.

What a Talker

I guess some of them are born that way. Credit to Rick at Brutally Honest who found this pearl.

Barry Is Just One of The Guys

Yep, our pres is just one of the guys. (Five Guys to be exact).

While the world spins precariously and war and nuclear crisis threatens our lives daily and terrorism looms as a threat to change the complexion of the world as we know it, once again our pres can find the time to get out and press the flesh with the people and have a burger lunch off the cuff.

Yesterday, he made his second venture into the inner sanctum of Washington's burger culture, to once again partake in his cheeseburgers and conversations with the little people. And here we were thinking that the original pokey man of the White house was Bill Clinton. At this rate, Obama will soon wind up looking like Bill Cosby's caricature of Fat Albert, but I digress.

The real story that came out of this latest burger visit? Was that Our president in his attempts to satisfy his fat quotient for the week, has once again demonstrated his naivete, if not his out right ignorance of the issues that he is supposed to have not only a grasp of, but a supreme command of.

Pres. Obama at Five Guys Burgers & Fries in Washington

At the above captioned link, the president's visit was captured on video. Mostly him moseying about glad handing and schmoozing with the hired help and the patrons. And of course the grandiose and staged presentation of his ordering burgers for his friends in the media, then coming off his own hip with the cash to pay the bill.

All very well and all brilliantly choreographed. His media people certainly have a flair for making him look like John Q public done good. But someone let the cameras run too long and the video linked at the C-SPAN site caught the president in the midst of a serious gaffe of knowledge.

Watch and listen closely, as the president approaches one patron and asked him who he is and what he does.

A POLITICO reader caught the exchange, which starts around 5:45 on this C-SPAN video.

The transcript:

Obama: What do you do Walter?
Walter: I work at, uh, NGA, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
Obama: Outstanding, how long you been doing that?
Walter: About six years
Obama: Yea?
Walter: Yes.
Obama: You like it?
Walter: I do, keeps me...
Obama: So explain to me exactly what this National Geospatial...uh...
Walter: Uh, we work with, uh, satellite imagery..
Obama: Right
Walter: [unintelligible] ...support systems, so...
Obama: Sounds like good work.
Walter: Enjoy the weekend.
Obama: Appreciate it.

That's right....the president of the United States discovered a National Intelligence agency, (that he obviously didn't know existed) while stopping for a burger and fries.

A little background on the president's stumbling over his own ignorance.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is a Department of Defense combat support agency and a member of the national Intelligence Community (IC). NGA develops imagery and map-based intelligence solutions for U.S. national defense, homeland security and safety of navigation.

NGA provides timely, relevant and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security objectives. The term "geospatial intelligence" means the exploitation and analysis of imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on the Earth. Geospatial intelligence consists of imagery, imagery intelligence and geospatial (e.g., mapping, charting and geodesy) information.

Now what is interesting in addition to this, is that this video can only be located at the C-SPAN site. All of the clips covering the president's burger visit to Five Guys Burgers last week on youtube?

Well they conveniently are edited to either outright step around this incident and exchange, or they have been blatantly cut out of the middle of the tape where they occur.

One has to wonder, what would have been the result had George Bush made a similar mistake. Actually? One doesn't have to wonder. There are endless cut and paste videos on youtube and across the internet cataloging his smallest of errors. Including the supposed big one when he was in the Florida grade school the morning the planes hit the twin towers.

Let's certainly hope that Obama isn't stopping for another burger and fries when we are next attacked. If he is, I can promise you the video will likely not see the light of day in our life times. But by the time this man is finished, we will have a rolling video catalog of his burger fetish.

Ahmadinejad's Small Potatoes

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hands out potatoes to poor to buy presidential votes

I suppose this would be a funny story if it wasn't so sad and if it wasn't so true of this renegade and his regime. Whole those here in America make no bones about spending hundreds of dollars per vote in many elections, this guy is literally buying his office for 'small potatoes.

Makes you wonder what would happen if someone were to show up with free french fries and cokes.

Nothing From Nothing Leaves Nothing

Nothing from nothing leaves nothing or so they say. And the UAW has finally agreed that they don't want to be part of nothing. Now that the golden goose has all but been bled to death by the unions.

UAW members approve General Motors concessions

DETROIT (AP) -- The United Auto Workers union has ratified a package of concessions designed to reduce General Motors Corp.'s labor costs.

It looks like the UAW has finally seen the writing on the wall. Too bad really and far too late IMO. The time for the UAW to be making concessions was at the least last August IMO. Or in all fairness, two years before that when they signed their last contract. Back when it was becoming obvious that the big three could no longer sustain unrealistic union contracts in the face of non union foreign cars being manufactured in non union states and sold for less.

It's amazing to me that GM was able to do it and last this long, while staving off the inevitable for the past thirty years. But now the piper must be paid for the outlaw jig that has been danced for decades with the unions.

And of course General Motors greatly appreciates the suddenly reached consensus of agreement with the UAW. Especially seeing as they can now all agree, that it is time to finally close the barn door. Now that all the cows are gone.

"We very much appreciate the support of our employees and retirees," Diana Tremblay, GM vice president for labor relations, said in a statement. "Their shared sacrifices will enable GM to become a stronger, more viable company that will continue to deliver world-class cars and trucks."

Excuse me? But they could have come to their senses about this months if not years ago. And the filing of chapter 11 protection last fall by both GM and Chrysler was what truly made sense then. I am not so sure how much sense it makes now. Seeing as they have each collectively gone through about fifty billion dollars of the taxpayers money since then and they are eying another similar chunk to tide them over while they reorganize and try to stay in business after chapter 11 bankruptcy.

So now the UAW has finally seen that nothing from nothing leaves nothing. And the UAW has agreed that they don't want to be part of nothing. They have agreed to embrace the dying corpse that they helped to create in order to try and save themselves. Hallelujah!

The UAW has come to its senses, now that the patient is terminal and on the death bed. I suppose that even in the socialist mentality of organized unions, sooner or later, they have to face up to the reality, that having fifty percent of something, is better than having one hundred percent of nothing.

The only problem is? I don't believe that there is that much left on the bone at GM or Chrysler now. They are both financially emaciated skeletons of their former glory days. And they have no one to thank for their demise but themselves and their unions and of course a federal government of the past thirty five years that has mandated them into oblivion.

Is Obama targeting Republican Chrysler dealers?

Maddow' s Buyer's Remorse? Or Common Sense Re-acquired?

You decide.

For those who know, Rachel Maddow is one of the most rabidly liberal commentators in American media today. Her attacks and rails against the Bush administration are legendary and they were the fuel that propelled her to the national spotlight with her own nightly program presently on MSNBC.

With those facts presented and aware to anyone who knows the woman and having watched her seething diatribes against George Bush in the past? Have a look at one of her most recent examinations of the newly elected president.

And remember, Rachel Maddow was so far inside the political insiders ring of the Obama campaign, that she probably already has her own monogrammed slippers and bathrobe for her up coming stays in the Lincoln bedroom at the white House.

Yet this critical examination of the president's speech last week, may very well bring those invitations skidding abruptly to the curb where they and she will remain parked. Provided she doesn't get back with the script and the preferred program of adulation and adoration quickly.

Personally? I almost find it entertaining to witness the awakening of a liberal. But then again, so much damage must usually be incurred to reach that point, as to completely remove any joy from the moment.

You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

Oh really? Watch this video while Obama goes through his accomplishments of change so far.

Sotomayer No Racist, She's Just a Member

Much has been said over the past two days since Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. And a lot of the focus and emphasis of scrutiny, has rested squarely on her previously quoted assertion...."I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

And now come the revelations of her membership and associations with more than one Latin organization of questionable if not dubious purpose and agenda.

For instance, Sotomayor is a member of "La Raza." A Hispanic organization that advertises itself first by name.....translation "The Race." And it is known secondarily by it's agenda against the interest of existing citizens of the United States.

As quoted in this article: Sonia Sotomayor 'La Raza member'

Laraza: "a group that's promoted driver's licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs, and no immigration law enforcement by local and state police." And the separation of several southwestern states from the US and theoretically the absorption of those states into Mexico.

And so far, Tom Tancredo is the only person capable of calling this farce of media spun reality as it should be called. The facts are, that this woman is a racist and openly promotes her subjective racism as part of her supposed judicial appeal and capability to judge others. And her judicial record is evidence of her views.

Even the vaunted Ann Coulter comes up short and backs away from calling this situation as it is....."I'm not saying she's a racist, but the statement sure is," columnist Ann Coulter said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

So there you have it folks. In the parlance of liberal angst and media supported multicultural democrat politics? This is a done deal. Sotomayer will be seated. Senator Orin Hatch (R) former chair of the Senate Judiciary committee has already said that he will vote to confirm her. And was there ever any doubt that other republicans would not be cowed into accepting this nomination?

They will line up like lemmings to escort this liberal racist through the senate confirmation and vote. Why? Because the democrats have played the race card as only they can play it. Never mind that they trashed and attacked Alberto Gonzales from beginning to end, (when he was being vetted for Attorney General) they now leap to the soap box and point their stank fingers at the republicans and assert..."are republicans going to vote against the first Hispanic nomination to the Supreme Court?"

Why not? Why not vote conscience and cut through this media parsed load of bull chips. Why not? Because the republican party has gone from ankle to ass deep in it's pursuit of race based Latin votes for the past ten years now. They have no intention of bucking the resident alien influence that they have helped to both create and perpetuate in this country for the past twenty five years.

Little did they realize that their ploy of attempting to create their own voting block, would so tragically backfire and explode in their own faces. Yes, rest assured, Sonia Sotomayor will be confirmed as the next justice of the Supreme Court. And she will be followed by others like her, just as soon as Justices Ginsberg and Stevens either die or decide to leave now that there is a democrat in the White House.

There is a bleak future looming on the horizon for this country. Led by this race of truly racist socialists and their supporters at all levels in our society.

Blustering Amongst Friends

Clinton Threatens Consequences Against North Korea

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged North Korea to return to negotiating table on Wednesday as the Obama administration said Pyongyang's new missile tests are mostly "bluster."

I for one happen to believe that the little tin horn in N Korea has finally dove off the deep end. Or as some would say as it concerns Kim Jong..'his cheese has slid off his cracker.' Kim Jong has fired a succession of missiles in the past several days and set off another nuclear blast last weekend. And he continues to openly defy every UN resolution and mandate ever issued against him (as if that is some great feat.) And yet until today, the Obama administration has all but remained silent on the little tin horn's recent predilections of nuclear muscle flexing.

But mid day today, Obama sent in his heavy hitter Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The one woman who is the closest thing that America has to anyone in the present administration having a pair in Washington. And all of her posturing and bravado were immediately side stepped and reduced to ash before it could even be digested or appreciated. And not by Kim Jong mind you, but by Hillary's boss himself.

Obama sends our the iron maiden to rattle a few sabers and challenge these unconscionable interferences with the messianic ones daily agenda of world problem solving? And then he turns right around and guts the Secretary of State's statements (that he presumably directed) by asserting that he (Obama) believes Kim Jong to be nothing more than bluster.

So thus stands the Madam Secretary on the world stage, blustering herself about N Korea making choices and the heavy price they will pay for their actions. And alluding to super secret talks that are in progress, (as she speaks) as if the very fate of the little tin horn was really jeopardy. Yet in the end result all that was accomplished today was the striking tinge of yellow streaking Hillary's face as the egg so lovingly lofted by the president struck home. I guess they call that taking one for the team.

Mean while the ubiquitous "senior White House official" was further elucidating that they (meaning the White House and the president) feel that the N Koreans actions continued to isolate the country and that the N Koreans bluster would not get the nation the attention that it was seeking.

I wonder if the same is true of Washington and its blustering and it's naive and inexperienced idol president. And I wonder what the White House version will be later on this week if N Korean launches another full scale attack across the 38th parallel. I guess we will all wait and see.

Gates Surrenders in Afghanistan

Gates Says Taliban Have Momentum in Afghanistan

"People are willing to stay in the fight, I believe, if they think we're making headway," he said. "If they think we're stalemated and having our young men and women get killed, then patience is going to run out pretty fast."

Well there you have it. Remarks like those by the Secretary of Defense say it all in the face of Islamic terrorism. Don't you think?

I mean what happened?

Didn't we win the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan? Didn't we depose the Taliban in Afghanistan and send them and their leader Bin Ladin scurrying into Pakistan for shelter and sanctuary? Wasn't the war won there four years ago? Then what happened?

Apparently? All the wailing and gnashing of teeth of the likes of Pelosi and Reid and Obama and the rest have had their effect. The last I checked, we were still doing well when the shop was turned over to the current commander in chief? And now we are suffering heavy US casualties and losing the war?

Oh yes....they fired the commanding general a couple of weeks ago. Why? Not implementing their plan of defeat fast enough? It damn sure looks that way to me. Liberals whined and complained that Bush didn't commit enough troops in Irag to win the peace, then after we had won the peace and the war in Afghanistan, these same liberals set about in every fashion possible, to prop up and support the enemy and destroy all that had been accomplished and then assert that we hadn't.

And when the theater commander asked Obama for 40,000 more troops to quell the resurgence of Taliban in Afghanistan? He was given 14,000 and then fired for not getting the job done.

These are the realities of Afghanistan presently and historically. And this president will be the first to go down in history, for having lost a war that was already decided and won.

My Memorial Day Experience

After a shower this morning, I went to the mall for my daily walk. I wore my Marine Corps T shirt and my veterans vest and ball cap. That generated a few curious stares from the sundry morning mall goers, but no inquiries or even a tip of the hat from any of those present.

I left the mall after a brief lunch and drove over to our local memorial. It's a Vietnam era F-105 Thunderchief on a pedestal and enclosed by red bricks and an iron garden. Inside their are red bricks inlaid into the pavement with the names of those who have served and their family members. There are also reflection benches of marble for each branch of the military and the three black granite monuments with the names of those from our county, who have been lost to wars.

There was one truck in the parking lot at 11 AM of this overcast Memorial Day in west Georgia. I could see a lone individual paused and reading the names on the bricks that inlay around the memorial. I noted that he was wearing a Vietnam veterans hat similar to mine and that he had on his veterans vest on also.

After a few minutes, I got out of my truck and walked into the memorial garden. The other gentleman and I just looked at each other and nodded, as each of us sought simply the solace of remembrance of those who this monument was erected to pay tribute to.

After a while, the other man's son drove up in the parking lot and got out to come see his dad. Ss he approached they each said hello to me and the other veteran looked over and said "where were you at?" I told him that I have spent my time in Vietnam aboard a ship in the Tonkin Gulf, the other man told me that he had been in 82nd Airborne.

He asked if I knew who to contact about having a brick laid with the other commemorative bricks. I told him I wasn't sure, but that someone at the park office should know who to contact. The other man and his son thanked me and as he turned to leave, he stopped and looked back and said "welcome home."

For a moment I felt that old sting once again, but it quickly passed and I told him welcome home too. Just two old guys meeting at a memorial to once again attempt to shed some hard to die memories. The man and his son walked to their vehicles hugged and slowly drove away. I was alone with my thoughts and the names on the inscription on the wall where those black granite slabs stand.

I went over and touched the black granite panels and said a few prayers for the names listed there. Names dating back to world war one are listed on our memorial. World war two and Korea dead are honored there too as are those from Vietnam. I spoke to them all and told them that all was still well and that there were still those of us here who remembered. And then it dawned on me that there would soon be new names included to their ranks. New slabs of black granite would chronicle the most recent payments made in behalf of freedom. That thought shook me back to the present reality and I decided that it was time to leave.

As I was preparing to leave, I set up my camera and took a timed shot of myself in front of the memorial. Then as I was turning to leave, a van pulled into the parking lot. As I was approaching my truck I watched as two women got out. It was obvious that they were coming to visit the memorial, but neither of them struck me as being old enough to be taking the time out of their day for such a humble visit.

Then the youngest lady opened the rear door on the van and reached in and retrieved a little boy about four years old. As she stood him up on the pavement, I immediately recognized that something was very special about this little man. Every bit of four years old? And wearing a set of United States Marine Corps dress blues. His mother upon seeing me said "look Eddie, he's a Marine too! Just like daddy!" The little boy walked gingerly past me headed toward the memorial and the looming and enticing F-105 standing sentinel behind us. As he passed he gave me a high five when I asked him to, then proceeded to walk toward the memorial and a quickened pace. Obviously wanting to see this big plane up close.

I asked his mother if I could take his picture and she said sure. She told her son that I wanted to take his picture and to come back and stand up straight like a good Marine. He immediately turned around and went into his best impression of attention and I snapped the photograph. His mother then told him "say thank you and salute," which he immediately did. I told him Semper Fi! Marine! And his mother looked at me and said...."his father and uncle are both Marines serving in Afghanistan right now." I told her to thank her husband and his brother for me. Then she and the little boy and the other woman turned to walk into the memorial garden for their private time.

As I got into my truck and sat down behind the wheel, I had to fight back tears at the experience that had just occurred. It was if those voiceless names had spoken back to me directly though that little boy. And as I drove away I said a prayer of thanks that we still have people like Eddie's father and uncle. And I pray that Eddie comes back to that memorial on Memorial days for many years to come. And I also pray....that he will never have to see his father's or his uncle's name on those new granite slabs that will be ordered soon.

We Have a Short Term Problem

Do we have a short term problem? Well yes we do.

It just depends on how you look at it and who you look at to determine it IMO. According to president Obama? We have a short term problem in the economy. Though where he gets the perception that the short term is the problem is beyond me, as the long term problem is what is looming like a tidal wave and short term quick fixes cannot repair the damage done over the past thirty years and more.

The president openly admits that we are out of money. Is anyone listening? Or are they still in that dazzled messianic daze of waltzing with the Pied Piper of socialist promises and hoping for change. Because if they are? They won't be singing happy days are here again anytime soon.

In this interview, the president is attempting to make the connection between our present economic dire straights, and our currently existing system of health care. But watch and listen closely, it's not health care that he uses to build the bridge to his economic temple of milk and honey for the masses. It is medicare and medicaid. There is the shell game.

While it can be conveniently argued by those who know not a twit of our health care system, or how it works or who it serves, Medicaid and Medicare are not our 'health care system.' They are each programs originally aimed at taking care of our elderly indigent populations. You have to be sixty two years old to qualify for Medicare and you have to basically demonstrate poverty level destitution to qualify for Medicaid. What do those two programs have to do with the health care of the remaining 250 million Americans as it concerns their health care. Not a lot until they turn 62 that is for certain.

What the master of deceit, deflection and the spreading of artful political defecation isn't telling us in this interview? Is that when he speaks of health care, he is actually speaking of socialized medicine and his intended coverage of those forty million Americans who currently depend upon free indigent medical care as provided in ever community across this country already at county funded hospitals.

The only difference being? These non insured presently show up at our county hospitals and are treated on a case by case basis, as opposed to being able to acquire a personal physician or health insurance plan and go to a doctor's office or private clinic. If you have any doubt of that? Then simply go to any hospital in this country and follow the Mexicans who are lining up for everything from free organ transplants to the birthing of their illegal children at our expense.

And the president won't tell you that at least a third of those that he is longing to include in his (health care) program, don't have health care not because they can't obtain health insurance at a reasonable rate, but they don't have it because they simply refuse to use their own money to pay for it. They are the loyal and dependable minions of liberal socialist change and they know that the optimum feature of the system is to force other people to pay your way the for you.

So here we have the president once again lecturing us on how his great plan melds all these wondrous and altruist things together and how it is our own failures of health care planning (through the years) that have truly brought us to the precipice of complete and utter economic collapse today.

I am sorry....but did I miss something. Was I having a Sleeping Beauty moment of personal coma? Is president Obama my prince Charming who has come to awaken me with a kiss? I think not!

I believe I was here and aware of the goings on of the last thirty odd years in my life and my country. I am aware that the present economic collapse has been predicated upon the dismissal of checks and balances initiated by president Clinton when he signed into law provisions that eliminated the Glass Stegall Act. I believe I remember congressman Barney Frank and senator Chuck Shumer dismissing any concerns or inquiries into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack during the Bush administration and declaring both of the bloated and bloodless entities not only stable? But models of efficiency that should be further saddled with more debt.

I remember the mantra and manifesto of the past thirty years in liberal democrat America as it concerned supposed 'affordable housing.' And I remember where the liberal hustle for all this first began back with Jimmy Carter. I remember the Carter administration calling it 'the Community Reinvestment Act' when it was first created. And I remember the Clinton administration putting the supposed Community Reinvestment Act on a greased rail and pushing it at light speed forward, to help prop up his friends who had lost their investments in the crash of the dot.com bubble at the end of his first administration.

So how does this all go again Mr. Obama? How is it that allowing you to spend trillions of our money that you admit that we don't have on your socialist health care scheme? How is that going to save our economy and lead America back to prosperity and a stable economy?

Meanwhile, your borrowing and printing is leading this nation steadily toward the abyss of complete collapse. We are about to lose our AAA rating as the UK lost theirs last week. And for those interested? The UK is a neatly folded little microcosm of what we here in America can expect to befall us, not long after it appears on their shores. On issues from immigration to the institutionalized secular attacks on faith and the institutionalized attacks on individual rights, to the present pending collapse of their own economy as a result of NuLabor's pursuit of the holy grail of multicultural Nirvana. And yes, theirs is a national health care system to be held up to close examination and scrutiny for the true failures that it represents. All these social experiments have already been tried there and they have already failed miserably. Yet these are the precise hustles that Barack Obama is putting forth as his new ideas.

You see? Their Mr. Blair was so enthused and enamoured by our original man from Hope (Bill Clinton) that Blair folded into his own batter many of the same elements that were going into the baking of liberal cupcakes here in America. And now it has become evident that over time these British economic cupcakes have become unleavened. Unstable if you will. They no longer provide the taste or allure or promise as advertised.

And they have become more and more so as each day passes, because the formula is in error. The recipe is lacking that which causes the bread and the batter to rise and theirs is a recipe for disaster! As is ours! The only difference being? We started out with far more dough.

Yet the band plays on. And as those in the UK pass by the baker's window daily? They still see the bread and the cupcakes being made, yet the available supply of finished products gets smaller and smaller. The same as it is occurring here. In essence, there is no longer enough dough to feed the massive machine created to produce the dough. A self fulfilling prophesy IMO.

And one day soon when the jig is finally up? It all comes crashing down. But in the interim, we have the master salesman of socialist delight still hustling the sugary cakes and telling us that all will be well in the morning.

Do excuse me if I don't share in those sugar plum dreams.

If you are interested in your own personal future and that of your family, I would suggest and highly recommend that you exit the mainstream media flows and begin some free and independent thinking and assessing the reality on your own.

There are many sources available and many of them are painting the ultimate demise and collapse as coming on or about 2012. And has absolutely nothing to do with the Mayan calendar, or Nostradamus or whether a comet comes and knocks earth off it's kilter on 12.21.2009

These predictions are based in fact and the known working knowledge of economics as observed over generations. We are in trouble and the sad part is? Most of us never saw it coming and continue to refuse to see it even as it shadows our future into oblivion.

A Sergeant Said....Are You Scared Son?

I post this as a tribute to those who gave their last full measure and for those who are still with us, but who are daily fading into our collective forgetfulness.

May God bless and keep them and may they know that there are many who still remember their sacrifices.

My Memorial Day Tribute

If we build it will they come? Almost everyone has seen the movie Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner. And just as many people remember the tag line from the movie..."if you build it he will come." There are a number of metaphorical references and themes in that film that touch a certain spot in the heart of most people. I know it touched mine.

As I sit here contemplating this Memorial Day weekend, I am torn between realizing that many Americans only see this holiday as the first big cookout weekend of the summer season. It means little more to many than just that. A reason to kick back and relax on a three day weekend off. Time to burn some burgers, drink some beer and maybe go to the lake or beach or perhaps watch the Indy 500 on TV. But beyond those activities of shared interest and commonality, I fear that not many present day contemporary Americans will remember or even be aware of what the Memorial Day holiday is supposed to both signify and pay tribute to. Mush more that it is supposed to honor the memory of our honored dead.

Memorial Day is supposed to be a day of remembrance. A day when all Americans take pause to reflect on those who have sacrificed their lives in service to this nation. A day of remembrance of those that sacrificed so that there could be cookouts and burgers and beer and all the other activities and blessings of a free nation for generations to come. And ball games and days at the lake and vacations at the beach. For there are those who remain as they always have, prepared to take away our freedoms and abilities to pursue our versions of happiness, freedom and liberty. And there are those who have already deprived many who were innocent of their lives, as they did those who willingly died in the defense of other Americans who never even knew them.

Is there a higher calling than to be of service to your nation? Perhaps.

Perhaps it is a higher calling to be of service to your God and your family. I believe that there are few who would disagree with that, but there also comes the time when each generation is called upon to step forward and offer service to both themselves and their neighbors.

Jesus said: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." I have to agree. But what of the man or woman....who lays down their life for those that they never knew..... Or those who have yet to be born yet? Is this not also a demonstration of the greatest love? Albeit a demonstration of commitment to country, it still remains a commitment to all who cannot stand and defend themselves. At least that is the way I look at it.

And what remains of the lives lost during times of conflict for America. What remains other than the cherished memories of their families and loved ones. They weep in silence. We expect that remembrance from those closest to us, yet what do we expect from those who never knew us. What should be expected of those who follow in the blissful peace of never having known the mind tearing fear of war and combat. Of those who never knew the taste of sudden and brutal death in a land far removed from their former lives.

America's sons and daughters and father and mothers and brothers and sisters have long marched off to defend that which was being threatened here at home. And these same defenders have bled and left members of their bodies strewn across countless battlefields over the past 200 years. And many of them never left those battlefields at all. They lie there now in repose, or they rest in the bottom of the depths of the sea where they were interred having been wrapped in the flag of their nation. Their only remaining connection with their loved ones or descendents or those that came after, are some words on the page of a history book. Or perhaps, some words on a monument somewhere, lost to the day to day passing of time and the memories of those who knew them.

As I think about these things each year, I often wonder what those who have gone before us and who are no longer are with us think or thought about such things. For many of them there was no time to think or contemplate their actions or their death. It just happened suddenly and painlessly and they were gone. For others there was agony and lingering and there must certainly have been a desire of last will and testament to above all be remembered. What else can we leave to this world but our actions and the memory of our actions. And when those actions are of self sacrifice on a battlefield in defense of those who cannot defend themselves? I have to feel and believe that the emotions involved transcend death. I happen to believe that death cannot silence the memories of those who have sacrificed so greatly. I have to believe that our sacred lost stand as silent sentinels and testament to their commitment to love of country and family. Where they stand I do not know, but they certainly must become members of an honored cadre of the many who have similarly served and committed their lives and souls to an eternal presence in the glory of a God who recognizes their sacrifice.

If we build it? Will they come? I have often wondered about that. What of our memorials. What of our memorials in the form of monuments and designated days of observance? Is there really the reverence present that there should be? Do we as Americans truly feel thankful or grateful that we live in a nation, whose liberties have been so dearly paid for. And what of the sentinels that stand on the other side of eternity. Keeping constant watch and vigil. Asking now only that we remember them. Asking only that their lives not have been lost in vain. Asking only that we take a day here and there to remember them. Is that too much to ask? I wonder. As I wonder if our honored dead are aware of our present lives and what they died to preserve.

I wonder if the husband or son or brother, or sister or mother or daughter, can approach the lives we now live if only as an observer. Is it possible for them to return periodically for flickers of time, just to look in on their loved ones or just to see how things have proceeded and progressed in the absence of their lives? Is it possible for those who gave their last full measure to emotionally reach across and touch the minds of those who remain here on this plain of existence? I have often wondered those same curiosities whenever I looked upon that long black wall on the mall in Washington. I have been there three times now. It took me years to make the journey after the tribute was finally erected. I saw the photographs in magazines and I felt the rush of chills when the eerie illusion of the haunting shapes of the dead almost materialized in that black granite wall for a moment.

Then I realized that the images most often were simply the reflections of those passing by and those stopping to pay their respects. But what if there are really those there on the other side of that black granite wall. And what if there are those who went before them, now disembodied and periodically allowed to peek back into our lives via the conduit of their memorials? It is certainly a heavy thought for me to contemplate. If we build it will they come? Is it possible for our heroes to look back across the great divide and see the now aging faces of wives and mothers, fathers and brothers, sons and daughters, sisters and sweethearts. Can they see those others that meant so much to them in their brief lives here with us on earth.

I certainly hope so. I know that I want to believe that. And I know that my heart tells me that through God all things are possible. So yes, they are there as they have always been in my opinion, though not in flesh and bone. They are there in spirit and in love. And they remain there silently watching and remembering and thinking of the love that they held in this life and the love that remains here in the hearts of others for them.

Therefore, as we enter into another Memorial Day observance, before you light up the grill or open that beer, take the time to pause and reflect. Take the time to be thankful for all that you have and the price paid for in blood for you to have it. Take the time to offer up a prayer for those that you knew and those that you never knew. For those who are no longer with us and will never again be allowed to enjoy a May weekend in spring with their family and friends. Think of how the smell of those cookouts and the laughter of children are no longer shared or enjoyed by those who have laid down their lives for you and I.

By all means....thank a veteran this weekend, but even more importantly, pay respect to those who gave their all that you could enjoy the greatness of this nation and its bounty. They deserve no less from those of us who remain. From those of us who but by the grace of God survived and returned. They deserve to be remembered and saluted on these few days when we set aside the day for tribute to them. It is after all their day not ours. They earned it. Paid for in full with no apologies and no regrets.

They wait for us now and from time to time they assemble to look back on that which they preserved. Visit with them. Let them know that you know that they are there and that you know what they did for you and your family. Go to a national cemetery or visit a monument this weekend and reach out and touch the stone work. These are the tangible references to the fact that they lived and these are the conduits between them and us, their world and ours. These are the touch stones between their existence in memory and our continued existence in life. And they are our means of connection and remembrance.

I know that I certain believe that they are, as I believe that they are there watching and waiting and endlessly loving that which they willingly sacrificed. I believe that when we built these tributes to their sacrifices, that those who gave are capable of seeing what we have done for them and in their honor and in their memory. As I believe that they are aware of those who never stop to think, much less visit one of them where they now stand as entombed sentinels to the memory of their love.

Greater love hath no man, than to lay down his life for his friends.

Honor them. Honor their memory. Never let them die from our thoughts. For as long as they remain in our collective and individual memory, they remain as testament to all that love truly represents. And their sacrifices will not have been in vain.

Liz Cheney Makes Her Daddy Proud

While blogging on the topic of yesterday's Cheney Obama speeches this morning, I was treated to a debate on the issue of enhanced interrogation techniques and the on going debate, on Good Morning America. It was a debate between the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney and the former West Wing writer and MSNBC political analyst Lawrence O'Donnell.

And it was a debate which proved to be an interesting mix of realities to say the least. None the less, Liz Cheney not only did her father proud in defense of the Bush administration policies of national security, but she also dissected and laid bare the contrived attacks that O'Donnell foisted as his best examples of defense for liberal democrat opposition to enhanced interrogation techniques.

O'Donnell's seeming big stick in the argument (and it was an argument) was to assert that the Bush administration had released over 500 individuals form Guantanamo 75 of which who had returned to terrorist activities and none of which had been water boarded by the Bush administration.

O'Donnell's assertions were basically, that if water boarding was such an effective technique, then why had the Bush administration not water boarded these 500. And was this not an example of George Bush's failed policies and failure to keep America safe, as at least 75 of these individuals went on to rejoin terrorist activities in the middle east.

The points of which when examined for logic and reasoning, immediately serve to both clearly demonstrate and clarify the idiocy of liberal perspective when it comes to protecting this country and employing practices that provide safety to all Americans. Not to mention there methodologies for defending their positions.

To her credit, Liz Cheney rose to the baiting and immediately destroyed O'Donell's argument by pointing out that this was precisely what the administration had both claimed and demonstrated repeatedly. Specifically, that water boarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques were used in very limited instances and employed only against very specific targets of inquiry. She then added that of course, O'Donnell and those of similar mindset, would now attempt to assert that every person taken into custody, should have been interrogated in such a fashion and that the failure to do so was a failure of responsibility on the part of the Bush administration. But she also pointed out the idiocy of such a proposition and that Larry O'Donnell knew that.

And the twisting of liberal perspective continued....

O'Donnell continued with his attempts to vilify the Bush administration, by further attempting to muddy the water of the debate. He did that by asserting that while Dick Cheney decried the release of CIA memos outlining the techniques of interrogation used by the Bush administration, as making America less safe, the former vice president then in turn wanted the administration to release more memos and thus potentially make America less safe by his own definition. O'Donnell attempted then to qualify this comparison of analogy as a demonstration of illogic on the part of former vice president Cheney.

And once again Liz Cheney rose to the challenge and unfolded O'Donell's neatly folded parsing and attempts to contrive reality in the enhanced and skewed liberal perspective and she revealed the tactic for precisely what it was. Pointing out that what her father was seeking? Was nothing more than the complete picture of what had taken place and why. Particularly since the Obama administration had already caused damage. Pointing out that the Obama administration was more than prepared to reveal the techniques involved in obtaining the information to the American people for political gain and thus jeopardizing our future safety, yet he had purposely shied away from disclosing the known and provable results of those interrogations. The obvious reasoning being that those documents more than proved the viability and necessity for such techniques and therefore, would not serve to further the president's argument.

In the vernacular of the present generation, Liz Cheney owned Larry O'Donnell in this staged debate for morning television on probably one of the most liberal networks in America. And she did it with commons sense and reasoned logic and she did it in the face of a red faced Larry O'Donnell who continually interrupted and attempted to shout her down and over talk her. Which is the favored tactic of liberal attack artists when they are losing, which is frequently.

I look forward to this debate being published on YouTube so that it can be posted and more Americans made aware of the tactics and the players involved in the disservice and potential long term danger to this nation.

The irony of watching this debate this morning? Was that it struck me that the favored opposition for attempting to once again vilify George Bush and Dick Cheney in this instance, was a Hollywood writer whose claim to fame was his television series creation the West Wing. Perhaps this man and those who find him politically relevant, believe that America would have been better served with Martin Sheen playing president and Larry O'Donnell writing his daily scrips for him.

Such are the realities of the fantasy world that many liberals such as Lawrence O'Donnell live in. And the sad part of the fact is, that they have absolutely no compunction juxtaposing fantasy with reality and then attempting to claim moral superiority as if their dream worlds are reality.

Dueling Realities on Display In Washington

There is no better comparison than to juxtapose the philosophies of opposing ideologies side by side and allow the people to decide. And there is no better comparison of the present world of terrorism and America's choices in dealing with the threats present, than to listen to what each of these men had to say in their speeches yesterday.

Of course there are those who have and will side with the views and the perspectives of president Obama. And there are an equal number of people who will side with and believe that the actions taken by the Bush administration resulted in America and other countries remaining safe over the past seven and one half years.

The people should decide IMO.

Dick Cheney The Water Boy

I for one have noticed that former Vice President Cheney has become more and more vocal over that past two months. The first five weeks after leaving office, I feel that both he and President Bush opted to play the appropriate roles of fading into the backdrop as the new president laid out his administrations and set its goals and cabinet positions. And I believe that President Bush is maintaining his silence for good reason.

But as the Obama administration came to the forefront of power and control, both the new president and his spokespeople and cabinet appointments seemed to be bent on targeting George Bush at every opportunity for their blame and disdain game of partisan political hacking.

The problem is? Those tactics will only carry so far. Both with those who were formerly in these positions and with the American people at large. And thus after over six weeks of continued attacks and attempts to vilify the former president at every turn and for every blame, Dick Cheney changed course and rose to the challenge of defense of the administration and its policies and decision making.

And the one thing that Dick Cheney brings to any political discussion, is both experience and political savvy. And the ability to cut to the quick and shape the essence of the debate to a crystalline point of focus and clarity instantly. And thus he set about to speak up for and challenge the ongoing brow beating that the Obama administration have been vilifying the Bush era with. And he has rightly defended the policies designed to protect this nation during time of war as he once again did today in another of his spirited defenses of the record.

I for one applaud his efforts and appreciate his decision to stand forward and take on those whose only ability thus demonstrated with any clarity, is that of their tongue wagging and finger pointing.

Of course the mainstream media will continue to attempt to parse and deflect any and all criticisms of the Obama administration, while joining in the on going bashing of George Bush. But the people of America know what happened and what has been prevented from happening. Whether they recognize that openly or in private.

And as once again witnessed today with Obama's speech vilifying the former president once again and promising the closing of Guantanamo and the cessation of all interrogation techniques, the proof will be in the days that follow. Just as they were in the days that have followed other hollow promises of previous administrations and as they have followed with the misguided and ignorant decisions of other world leaders.

But in the interim, Americans seem to have begun to sit up on the edge of their seats and paying a bit more attention of late to what the former vice president has had to say. Call it the uneasiness and uncertainty of the economy or buyers remorse, either way Americans have g=began to sense that the current president is not the answer man and not all that he was billed or claimed and asserted wile on the campaign trail to the White House.

And in the interim? I am glad to see Dick Cheney carrying the water and the message to the America people. One thing is for sure, someone needs to. And the pundits extraordinaire like Limbaugh are neither the messengers or the leaders of the republican party IMO. We have a few senior statesmen still banging around in the republican party. Newt Gingrich is one and certainly Dick Cheney is another. But we need more of the aprty leaders speaking out and challenging this congress and presidency if the people are ever going to be served as they should be.

Its not about simple party politics at this point in time. It is about the continued survival and prosperity of this country and those who we entrust with both our future and our safety. And right now? I am not too comfortable with what I am seeing. And i don't think that I am alone.

The Cotton Candy World of Minority Fairness

Democrats seek financial rescue of minority-owned broadcasters

“While many jobs are at stake, a more important principle — the government’s fundamental interest in promoting a diversity of voices, including service to underserved communities — is severely threatened,” the members write in a draft of a letter that was scheduled to be sent Tuesday.

A lot has been said and written over the past thirty years as it concerns the experiment of minority diversity and the involvement of government mandate, in its attempts to force racial perspective and create the supposed level playing field for minorities.

While others involved have realized since the beginning and known all along that there wasn't a damn thing fair or diverse about what was being done to millions of non minority Americans in the name of "equal opportunity."

Regardless of the rhetoric coming out of Washington and the mandates of the Supreme Court, the reality remained and continues to be, that hard working and qualified people were and are being denied opportunities and they continue to be denied opportunities that they earned and deserve. And it is all being done under the auspices and blessings of a federal government bent on the fairness and equality balancing for minorities.

And the question remains begged....when and where does it end?

And now comes the present economic crisis and once again we see how the rules are being bent further in the quest for the supposed benefit of multiculturalism and racial equality.

In my opinion, there is nothing in life that is free. Someone has to pay for it. And in the same perspective, there is nothing in life that is fair, particularly when the perspective is forced to attain a false and forced perspective of reality and what fairness represents.

The ethos and ethics of hard work and individual struggle have been cast aside in America. And they have been cast aside for the Communist/Marxist creed of "from each according to his ability" (according to state mandate). Yet when individual minority abilities and failures are scrutinized? Then is when the truth of the other half of the Marx manifesto really comes into clear view.

To each according to his ability? And when there is no ability and no earned credit? Or there exists a perceived indifference of fairness? Then apply the state mandated rule "to each according to his need."

There you have the reality of the Marxist dream of Nirvana in a nut shell. It's not about a hand or leg up or any level playing fields. It is about state mandated and managed redistribution of wealth.

And the same is happening once again as it now applies to the government's actions toward broadcasters and minority media outlets. And what of minority auto dealerships? How many of those hundreds of pink slip notices that went out last week to Chrysler and GM dealers were aimed at non producing and under producing minority owned dealerships?

Mean while? There are dozens of other dealers who have already waded in and acknowledged that they were and are productive dealerships and that their businesses are literally being stolen from them and forfeited to others by the ever growing Obama imperial federal government.

The madness has to stop. The only question that remains to be see IMO, is how much blood will be spilled in the effort to end the complete collapse of this nation and it's heritage and history.

An American Tragedy

Letter to the editor of American Thinker:

My name is George C. Joseph. I am the sole owner of Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu, a family owned and operated business in Melbourne, Florida. My family bought and paid for this automobile franchise 35 years ago in 1974. I am the second generation to manage this business.

We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people. We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month. All depend on our business for part of their livelihood. We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community. We have strong local presence and stability.

I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees. Sunshine Dodge is my life.

On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer atno cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars. This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as "new," nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.

Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler's insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.

HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN?

THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY

This is beyond imagination! My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. We did NOTHING wrong.

This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families? This is a total economic disaster.

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

I beseech your help, and look forward to your reply. Thank you.

Sincerely,

George C. Joseph
President & Owner
Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu

Broken Promises Stolen Honor

The following is a video of shame. Shame for the city of Atlanta and a disgrace that those who have served so honorably are cast aside and forgotten by those who are supposed to take care of them.

Watch the video and you decide. I already have. I know each of the individuals featured. I spent days at the hospital when JJ was shot. I escorted the ambulance that carried Detective Williams to the hospital to save his life. I was at the retirement ceremony for Sgt. Phinney as the zone representative of his precinct.

Write a letter, make a call. These people deserve better. The city of Atlanta has broken promises to these men and women, don't let them steal their honor.

Pelosi's Critical Whip Cracking Rewarded

You have to see and hear this to appreciate the irony that is at play in the president's announcements today. Obviously Speaker Pelosi has by her own deeds of late, become embattled and taking fire from all corners. Including from the president's pick to head the CIA Leon Panneta. And much speculation has centered around Panneta's defense of the CIA, to the point of calling Nancy Pelosi a liar and openly stating that he can prove it.

What has remained to be seen, at least until today, was how the president took all this and whether he intended to stand by his speaker and question his CIA director. Those questions were somewhat laid to rest today during his announcement of new CAFE standards for the auto industry. Before getting into his speech, he had a few seeming impromptu remarks concerning the speaker. And Nancy can be seen briefly lapping up the president's acknowledgements like a camel in the desert without water for days.

Obama's remarks were nothing more than a tacit attempt to throw some praise toward Pelosi. Reminiscent to me of a neighbor while watering his flower bed, happening to see your house afire and training his water hose momentary on the blaze, while he summons his wife to call the fire department.

And with about the same effect I would imagine, as Obama's lame attempt at a life line to Pelosi this morning on the White House lawn. The speaker has gotten herself into this mess on her own and she cannot squirm or worm her way out of it. And Obama's actions today were reminiscent of President Bush's "Brownie you are doing a heck of a job!" IMO. Right before Mike Brown of FEMA bit the dust for his own incompetence during hurricane Katrina.

You would think that these people would learn but they never so. The political back slapping and butt covering and pay backs run far deeper than common sense and always have.

Obama's Cafe Plans For Recovery (Failure)

In the news this morning is more evidence of Obama's socialist cafeteria plan for America. The collective mentality of social Nirvana at any and all costs, scores another goal with the release and expansion of new and more extensive CAFE standards for American auto makers by the Obama administration.

At the very moment when two of America's big three auto makers are literally on life support? Obama and his minions of "socialust" are practicing more of the 17th century methodology of bleeding the patient until death finally occurs. (Isn't this what happened to George Washington?)

Someone please tell me that the people leading this country aren't that stupid. How can anyone in their right mind not realize and recognize, that raising the bar for a dying industry, is not the way to bring that industry back from the brink of destruction. I would say someone please tell me that the people of this country aren't so stupid as to believe and buy into this tripe, but apparently they are. Or else they wouldn't be the dumb masses.

And once again, the socialist ideology and methodology supersedes reality and common sense and literally laughs in the face of those who would question the illogic of it all. It is one thing to set goals but quite another to set unrealistic goals. Especially in the midst of an economic crash not seen since the last big crash of 1929.

Yet that is precisely what this administration is engaged in. And every day that passes, the messianic one is in the news speaking to the people and consoling them and telling them that all is about to be better. Provided only they continue to allow themselves to be bled for the sake and benefit of Nirvana.

With physicians like these? Is it any wonder that America is literally on her death bed and barely hanging on to the life and heritage that we once knew?

And these are the exact same principles that the president intends to deploy 'by the end of the year' to supposedly revamp the flagging health care system in America. And the only part of that that is amazing to me? Is that those in positions to know in these insurance companies and health corporations, know precisely what the end outcome will be.

Which leads me to believe, that they are simply going along to get along. And they are doing it for just long enough to feather their own nests before the final collapse that they have to know and recognize is inevitable under socialized medicine.

35 mpg cars will be a wonderful thing. Right after we find the liquid propellant to fuel them.....a fuel other than petroleum! The inescapable reality remains, that in the absence of some miracle of energy development that we are completely unaware of at the moment, we as a nation and as a people of this planet, have little or no means to sustain ourselves outside of the use of fossil fuels. Everyone else seems to get that, but somehow the socialist environMENTALIST have missed the plot.

And all the Utopian wishing and hoping and science fiction in creation isn't going to change that reality one iota. Wind, solar and geothermal do precisely what to power an 18 wheeler down the highway? Or a locomotive or a containerized ship for that matter?

And it will take millions of additional watts to charge and power all these proposed electric alternative vehicles dreamed of as the means to a better world. Not to include the millions of tons of batteries that will be required to power the widget cars and store the electricity that we currently don't have to charge them with.

But no one seems to care or to be paying attention to the facts for that matter. The media continues to traipse along behind the Pied Piper Obama, while wearing their rose colored glasses and singing the anthem of "Kumbaya" as if Nirvana was right around the corner.

John Lennon had it right. Imagine.

Now, imagine...... then wish in one hand and do something else in the other? And see which gets full first. This country is witnessing the largest gathering of golden goose killers ever assembled and given power and control over the people. and it won't take long for the fruits of their labor to be visited upon us all.

Netanyahu And The Iranian Problem Visit The Oval Office

Obama hosts Netanyahu as Mideast strains ties

US President Barack Obama will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for their first meeting on Monday as discord over Mideast peace and Iran's nuclear bid clouds ties between the close allies.

There has been a lot of background chatter over the past week and over the weekend, concerning today's meeting between Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu. Most of the speculation naturally concerns the middle east peace process and both leaders proposals of peace and or a potential two state solution for Israel and Palestine to be proposed by president Obama.

There has also been the 800 pound gorilla in the room (Iran). An issue that neither of these leaders seems to want to confront each other with. Although I suspicion that Netanyahu is far more comfortable with his position and intentions concerning Iran and its nuclear ambitions than Obama is with his position.

Meanwhile, Obama's trip to Notre Dame as the commencement speaker on Sunday, literally sucked all the air out of the Netanyahu visit until today. But for those who have read past the last week of headlines concerning the Notre Dame debacle and looked deeper into the more obscured musings by reporters and pundits in the know, concerning Israel and the Iranian problem, there has been a separate story emerging on the heels of this Israeli state visit.

The bottom line IMO, is that it appears to be more a concern of Obama's that Netanyahu give him a heads up (and early warning) on any potential Israeli attack on Iran, than there are concerns ny Obama for any two state solution in Palestine that he may broker with Netanyahu and Hamas.

Personally, I don't believe that Netanyahu trusts Obama enough to provide him with Israeli confidence reports or inside intelligence Israeli information to the American president concernin Israeli intentions. Netanyahu was studying this presisdent before he won his own election six weeks ago. As he knew then what he was up against as it concerned America's new middle east policy under a socialist minded relativist president. I also believe that if anything, Netanyahu (while here)will let Obama know that the clock is running and that if Iran doesn't back down quickly, then Israel will go ahead and address the problem that they know the Americans are afraid to address.

And I believe that Barack Obama knows that too.

Lies (And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them)

Lies (And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them)? Was a book authored by Al Franken as being a 'fair and balanced look at the hard right."

Really? And how does that same principle play when looking at the hard left of late?

You decide.

Al Gore Hypocritically Attacks Cheney for Criticizing Sitting President

TWS contributor Adam White emails:

I saw in Politico that Al Gore is attacking Cheney, and asserting that "I waited two years after I left office to make statements that were critical."

That struck me as completely untrue, and it took me about two minuets to confirm my recollection. Here are just a few samples:

Contra Costa Times, 1/10/02: "While praising President Bush for his leadership in the war effort, he went on to say that the economy was another matter. 'I'm not here to make a political speech, but I am concerned,' Gore said."

Boston Globe, 4/14/2002: "'They are wrong to vilify honorable men and women who oppose their right-wing domestic agenda and oppose a blatantly dishonest budget,' Gore said. 'They are wrong to imply that those who stand up to them are somehow unpatriotic.'" (Headline -- "Combative Gore Lashes Out At Administration Policies In Fla. Speech, He Hits Bush For 'Radical Agenda'") [Note: So much for his assertion today that his early criticsm of the Bush Administration focused on policy.]

USA Today, 4/15/2002: "Gore's speech was the emotional peak of the convention. With practiced skill, humor and a passion some delegates said they did not see during the campaign, Gore denounced virtually every element of Bush's domestic policy." (Headline -- "Gore's fiery speech raises questions of plans")

NY Times, 4/23/2002: "Sounding very much like the candidate he was and may become again, Al Gore said today that the environment was a moral issue and the Bush administration was giving 'policy payoffs to polluters.' 'Our environment is under siege,' Mr. Gore , the former vice president, said in an Earth Day speech here to 400 students at Vanderbilt University. 'The Bush administration has chosen to serve the special interests instead of the public interests and subsidize the obsolete failed approaches of the past instead of the exciting new solutions of the future. Instead of ensuring that our water is clean to drink, they thought that maybe there wasn't enough arsenic in the drinking water.'"

LA Times, 6/30/2002: "In a speech Saturday night to local Democrats, Gore attacked Bush's economic policies as "a total catastrophe." He also noted that in the war on terrorism, the U.S. has yet to catch Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, and he denounced the White House for "trying to use the war for political purposes.'" [I guess that's just more pure criticsm of policy ... .]

In other words, Gore didn't wait "two years." He waited less than one year, and within little more than a year he was a fire-breathing, raving critic.

Of course, the only reason why Gore even waited that long was to let post-9/11 national unity subside. The USA Today article I quoted above noted the obvious fact that "Gore was poised to take a more aggressive stance against Bush last fall, but Sept. 11 intervened."

The truly ironic part is that my research was made easy by ... the Internet. I've turned Al Gore's own creation against him.

Fighting The Irish At Notre Dame

Today is the big day for Barack Obama. Today is the day that he makes his grand appearance as the commencement speaker at Notre Dame University.

Much has been said and written over the past week concerning the president's invitation to speak and his obvious intent to do so. Therefore, there is little left for someone such as I to add or expound upon.

However, I do see today as a true turning point in American society and political discourse. And a further separation if you will, between the elitism of academia and the grass roots ideals and traditions that have made this country great.

Many who occupy the halls of academia, have spent the better parts of their entire lives deriding and driving down the very principles of Christian faith and morality that established this nation over 200 years ago.

And today's assault on those Christian values, by no less than the presence of an amoral president of the United States, only signals and verifies to me how deeply the socialist cancer has now run throughout the fabric of this nation.

Later on today, President of the United States, Barack Obama will have his say and read his words from his beloved teleprompter, but little will change in the minds of either Christians or the secular after his words have faded.

Those who love and embrace the degradation of individual conscience and morality under law, will be once again renewed and assured that their long toiled effort to damage and destroy the moral fabric of this nation has been significantly rewarded by the presence of their chosen leader.

While those who love and embrace life and their Christian faith will be renewed by the news that for the first time since records have been kept, a majority of Americans now consider themselves to be pro life.

The war is not over. There remain many battles to be fought, but one thing is becoming clearer by the day. Today Barack Obama and his well wishers will rejoice in his ability to stand at the podium of a Catholic university and challenge the moral heart and integrity of those students who will graduate today.

While at the same time, his very presence and demonstrated positions on issues of moral character and faith, cast a long and dark shadow on any Christian university that would choose to invite him to speak at their commencement.

The university of Notre Dame has always been known by their moniker the "fighting Irish." But as of today, their ranks will not be swelled by those who truly take those words to heart. Only the few will take the fight to the public arena of dissent today on behalf of faith and the unborn. Only a few will stand and be counted, as the usurper of their faith and of the principles of this nation stands and delivers his parsed words, to the young and malleable minds of our next generation.

But I have to take heart and realize that not all will be dazzled by his charisma or his choreographed words today. There remain those who know the truth and their ranks are growing by the day.

Thank God for that.

Obama's Broken Promises To The Left

There are an increasing number of those who are lamenting the recently broken promises of the newly elected president who promised them change. Having helped the junior senator from Illinois assume the highest pedestal and office of American government, they are now disenchanted by what they have been instrumental in creating.

And leading the pack are those like the ACLU and Amnesty International. They must have truly felt that they had elected a kindred spirit last November. Only now to learn that they are lying next to a strange fellow in their collective political bed.

As is evidenced by recent reports and reactions, they must feel particularly raw and mistreated by the Obama administration, as they truly believed that they had finally seen the arrival of the socialist driven president that they have so earnestly sought for and stumped for for decades.

Obama Breaks Major Campaign Promise Says Amnesty International

"President Obama is reinstating the same deeply-flawed military commissions that in June 2008 he called an 'enormous failure.' In one swift move, Obama both backtracks on a major campaign promise to change the way the United States fights terrorism and undermines the nation's core respect for the rule of law by sacrificing due process for political expediency.

"Whatever revisions the Obama administration has made to the commissions do not change the fact that the commissions do not provide an adequate standard of justice for the detainees nor the victims of terrorism -- they merely mock the U.S. Constitution, international laws and undermine fundamental human rights standards.

Make no mistake, politics has always made for strange bedfellows, but never so much as of the past 10-15 years IMO. And that disparity of allegiances grows wider and more apparent and visible by the passing of each day.

And as is evidenced above by the most recently published relativist rhetoric and propagandized socialist philosophical tripe, those of the committed left bend of Marxist philosophy, are very uncomfortable with a constitution applied in any manner that they can't control or define for themselves.

As an example, let's have a look at the musings of the now deceased, yet instrumental creator of the angst politics of socialist American revolution in the latter days of the twentieth century. A true Marx protege if there ever was one.

Saul Alinsky 12 step program.

RULE 1: "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have." Power is derived from 2 main sources - money and people. "Have-Nots" must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)

RULE 2: "Never go outside the expertise of your people." It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don't address the "real" issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)

RULE 3: "Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy." Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

RULE 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity's very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 6: "A good tactic is one your people enjoy." They'll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They're doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid "un-fun" activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

RULE 7: "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag." Don't become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)

RULE 8: "Keep the pressure on. Never let up." Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

RULE 9: "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself." Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists' minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

RULE 10: "If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive." Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management's wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)

RULE 11: "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative." Never let the enemy score points because you're caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

And there you probably were........ believing that the twelve step program had something to do with AA and kicking the habit/disease of alcoholism.

The bottom line......?

Pay particular attention to rules 4 & 5 and 8 & 9 of the Alinsky model. For therein lies the reality of application, as applied by the likes of the ACLU, Amnesty International and a myriad of other Marxist activist organizations in America today.

We have seen the enemy and it is us?

You are damn skippy it is us! And we allow ourselves to be lynched with the silk ropes of our own laws and constitution every day by virtue of our complacency.

The true enemies of freedom and democracy are always found immersed in the books and laws designed to preserve freedom. But these interlopers are not looking to preserve freedom, they are looking to destroy it. And all the better if they can accomplish that with the very tools and devices of law and social intercourse, created by those who's original intent and desire was to preserve freedom.
