Family of fallen soldier warmed by letters, stung by politicians

You only get one chance to get it right. Once again, this man who occupies the office of the presidency and calls himself commander in chief fails and fails miserably.

Rightfully so, the father of this young man crystallizes the difference between a true commander in chief and someone who just bears the title and goes through the motions.

It use to bother me that Barack Obama refused to render honors to the American flag. Now I understand. He doesn't deserve the honor of saluting the flag of this nation. No more than he deserves the title of commander in chief.

Sorry folks. I passed along my consolences, but it was a choice for the family to go to the press about a form letter and a complaint about who the President calls about what.

I recall fondly how nicely you all treated Cindy Sheehan when she was unhappy about her son's death. "Attention Whore" was one of the favorites.

It's very unfortunate that the letter was wrong, but that bell can't be unrung. I'm sure that a call to the Senator's office would have gotten a gracious apology, but no.....let's go to the press and make it a political issue.

As to the President, who he calls and why is his business. If he took the time to call every parent of every American who died in service to country, he'd probably have little time to do anything else - which would be your next gripe.

Again, my condolences to the family. Having lost people close to me during Viet Nam and having a grandchild whose daddy died in Iraq, I'm not protected from the pain any more or less than anyone else.

Oh, and no.....George W. Bush didn't call when my grandchild's daddy died in Iraq.

The father's response..............

First_Lefty: Well, your name kind of says it all. I'd like to set the record straight, but first I'd like to thank you for your condolences. You should be thankful. A better man than you just died defending your right to express your opinion.

There was an error in the original article, I never called the White House - I have no desire to get a call from the President. I did make a request for the President to call my ex-wife. I believe it is something that should be done. If GEN Petraeus can take time to write a personal note, if my son's Company Commander can find time to make a phone call - all while fighting a war; if the Governor of Washington can find time to send personal condolences, then yes the President should be able to find time. Ultimately, it's not even a question of time. I would understand the President saying that it is not his policy, that the Office of the President cannot get involved in every soldier's death. But that's not what was said. The response we were given was that he is too busy to fit it into his schedule. That's what makes bogus calls to the President of the Eagles so galling (incidentally, yeah, Michael Vick has had a tremendous year ... playing nothing but a game).

As far as Senator Cantwell, sending a form letter is "okay", even nice. Having such a poor quality control, especially on a letter to a Mother who has lost her son at Christmas is just pathetic.

Is this political (?), maybe in your eyes. However we actually waited because we knew someone like you would make this accusation. When we told the reporter, it was in response to a question. In fact, we purposely told him that we didn't want to make this about politics. It may come as a surprise to you, but calling the Senator's office while we were grieving the loss of our son wasn't high on our priority list. Taking care of our son's three siblings and arranging for a burial somehow rated higher in importance.

Finally, to answer your first suggestion, that we should focus our anger on those who sent him to war - that would be Mr. Obama. My son was a member of the 101st Airborne. They are in Kandahar Province as a part of the surge ordered by the President almost a year ago. Not only did I agree with that decision by the President, making it something I would never blame him for, I have no doubt that your political persuasion would have enabled you to put an equally feeble comment in response to that if I had mentioned it.

You sir are a sad excuse for a man. It almost makes me sad to think I spent 28 years, and my son sacrificed his life, defending your right to be as misguided as you are ... yet that is where we are today.

Cuba's dirty little secrets exposed

So what happens when the needs of the peons outmatch the ability of the state to subsidize the basics of life? Looks like the state cuts back. Which is precisely what is going to happen across the board, in Europe, the UK and yes....even here in America.

Cuba, an example of socialism at it's worst. Fifty years later and all that exists is a nation of peons and the elites who have raped them.

Cuba slashes state-subsidies

The cost of cleanliness will rise in Cuba after its cash-strapped, communist government announced Wednesday that soap, toothpaste and detergent will be slashed from monthly ration books.

Cuba's official Gazette said that effective Jan. 1, "personal cleanliness products" will join a growing list of products cut from the ration books that islanders have come to rely on for a small but steady supply of basic goods.

Cubans currently pay about 25 centavos, or about a penny, for a rationed bar of soap. They'll soon have to fork out four to six pesos, according to the gazette.

The list of products available with the ration books has shrunk in recent months as the government trimmed items deemed nonessential. Cigarettes, salt, peas and potatoes have been cut. Sugar, beans, meat, rice, eggs, bread and other products remain.

A Wonk being a Wonk

What's wrong with liberals?

Listen to Ezra "Wonk" (staff writer for the Washington Post) and get a peak into their world.

1. The constitution isn't binding.
2. It was written over 100 years ago
3. Its confusing
4. It means different things to different people

What color is the sky is this guy's world?

I'd say pink.

Just a guess.

NYC got snowed by union thugs

The bottom line, people died because of these jerks. These union thugs don't care and they don't get it, they never have. They are so use to holding a gun to the head of cities and corporations, that they would rather see the company or city die, than to give up one inch of their coerced pay and benefits packages.

I sincerely hope someone gets prosecuted for this arrogance, but it won't happen. The whistle blowers will dry up and shut up when it comes down to testifying against the unions in a court.

Cleanup was a budget protest

These garbage men really stink.
Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts -- a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.

Miles of roads stretching from as north as Whitestone, Queens, to the south shore of Staten Island still remained treacherously unplowed last night because of the shameless job action, several sources and a city lawmaker said, which was over a raft of demotions, attrition and budget cuts.

"They sent a message to the rest of the city that these particular labor issues are more important," said City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens), who was visited yesterday by a group of guilt-ridden sanitation workers who confessed the shameless plot.

Halloran said he met with three plow workers from the Sanitation Department -- and two Department of Transportation supervisors who were on loan -- at his office after he was flooded with irate calls from constituents.

Sorry bastards.......

Never forget war, never send the horses south or put the bayonets and guns away

Some sage advice and from a corner of the globe where it should have been expected. The Chinese have been steadily building their military capabilities, ever since the Clinton years. Back when Bill saw fit to give them America's most sophisticated missile telemetry technology. And it looks like they have been using it.

China preparing for armed conflict 'in every direction'

"In the coming five years, our military will push forward preparations for military conflict in every strategic direction," said Liang Guanglie in an interview published by several state-backed newspapers in China. "We may be living in peaceful times, but we can never forget war, never send the horses south or put the bayonets and guns away," Mr Liang added.

So goes the reality of those who fail to learn the lessons of history. Japanese Admiral Yamamoto famously remarked upon learning of the completion of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor , "I am afraid that we have awakened a sleeping giant."

The modern day flip side of that observation, could (should) easily be uttered by any number of America's generals and admirals. The modern day flip side reality is? "I am afraid that we have awakened a sleeping dragon."
Mr Liang's remarks come at a time of increasingly difficult relations between the Chinese and US armed forces which a three-day visit by his counterpart Robert Gates is intended to address. A year ago China froze substantive military relations in protest at US arms sales to Taiwan and relations deteriorated further this summer when China objected to US plans to deploy one of its nuclear supercarriers, the USS George Washington, into the Yellow Sea off the Korean peninsula.

Having spent thirteen months in Asia a few decades ago, I determined back then that the only thing keeping the Chinese at bay, was their inability to match American military technology. It never was a matter of people or personnel. All they needed was a means to go head to head with American military might.

All that changed the day that Nixon decided to visit China and open up what has been affectionately called an "economic dialogue" with a closed society waiting to become the next world power.

Some dialogue huh. Forty years later, America literally sinks or swims on it's daily shipments of products from China. Mean while, the Chinese hold trillions of dollars in American debt (more than any other nation.) Another shining example of the Kissinger years IMO.

And what have they been doing with their profits from selling us all of our commodities and desires over the last twenty years? Investing in their military with the profits that's what. Over the past twenty years, the Chinese have built an invasion fleet of amphibious assault ships that they have stationed along their south east shore along the China sea.Along with missile defense shore batteries, that would rival the best examples of America's NORAD.

For those not up on history or the current events of the last sixty five years, the Chinese still lay claim to Taiwan and the only reason to date that they have not attempted to enforce their claim, is that America has held a promissory treaty with the Taiwanese to protect and defend the island against all adversaries. And now that promise is about to be tested.

And if that isn't enough to cause serious concern and worry here in America, then the news reports of China's latest weapon in their inventory should.
China is also working on a "carrier-killing" ballistic missile that could sink US carriers from afar, fundamentally reordering the balance of power in a region that has been dominated by the US since the end of the Second World War.
The bottom line......The giant has slept while the dragon has become fully awakened. The time is literally too late for America to prevent the coming war with China. The best that we can possibly do, is to shield Japan for the time being from the great Chinese dragon that is about to consume the rest of Asia. And when the time comes, they will come for Japan too.

There is a lot of payback in the Chinese memory as it concerns Japan. Mostly from the 1930's and what the Japanese did to the Chinese prior to and during WWII. Time to repay the favor.

And as it all unfolds, America will be revealed to be the impotent use to be that it is and no longer a threat to Chinese expansionism.

Welcome to the twenty first century and the decline of the American empire. Mean while back home on the ranch, Obama just signed a nuclear reduction treaty with the Russians. That ought to make everyone feel better.

37 years later? Nixon is portrayed as the bigot.

I have to admit, sometimes I am slow on the uptake. Perhaps not as savvy as the sophisticated class and those in tune with all the subtle nuances of geopolitical gamesmanship.

Yet I am almost certain, that on balance, I still speak, read and understand the English language relatively well. And as such, I am usually able to comprehend even the most oblique commentaries and observations by those who sit in their lofty towers interpreting daily events for us lesser than sophisticated and ill informed souls.

Not so today.

Kissinger Satisfies Few With Apology

Jewish historians are dismissing an apology by Henry Kissinger, offered over the weekend in response to a 1973 recording of him saying that sending Jews to a Soviet gas chamber "is not an American concern."
The 37-year-old comment by the former secretary of state followed immediately after a conversation Kissinger and President Richard Nixon had with Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir.
In the meeting, Meir asked the U.S. to pressure the Soviet Union to release its Jews. Nixon and Kissinger declined.
"The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy," Kissinger is reportedly heard saying on the tape. "And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern."
"I know. We can't blow up the world because of it," Nixon reportedly replied.
Writing an op-ed that appeared Sunday in The Washington Post, Kissinger said it was unfortunate that his words were taken out of context.
"The conversation at issue arose not as a policy statement by me but in response to a request by the president," Kissinger said, explaining that Nixon had wanted two senators to withdraw an amendment to trade negotiations that would have tied Jewish emigration to most-favored nation status. The amendment, known as the Jackson-Vanik amendment, passed into law anyway, chilling the detente that Nixon had pursued with the USSR.
"My answer tried to sum up that context in a kind of shorthand that, when read 37 years later, is undoubtedly offensive," Kissinger wrote.
So, the vaunted Henry Kissinger (legendary Jew extraordinaire) is found to have made remarks not only less than favorable to his own people? But his explanation for the commentary is no more imaginative than to assert the dog eared retort that he was simply taken out of context. (Aren't they all?)

Well do excuse me Mr. Kissinger, I can only assume that I am amongst millions who would love to hear you elaborate on the proper context of those remarks. Either in the present day context or retrospectively thirty seven years.  Perhaps it is really one of those subtle nuance things that we are always hearing about as it concerns international diplomacy. But please don't bore us with that inane and less than original three card monty that you attempted to play in the editorial pages of the Washington Post on Sunday.

Go ahead. Please do enlighten me and the many others that are obviously lost and in the dark on the subtleties of your expertise in international diplomacy Mr. Kissinger and your use of the language to placate an otherwise bigoted president, for fear of not be chic in the most intimate of insider moments.

Go ahead Mr. Kissinger.  On second thought? Spare me. I have seen the recipe for turning chicken manure into chicken salad before and yours is less than original.

President believes in level playing fields...

Yep, it's rarely a level playing field for thugs is it mr. president.

Obama is glad
Everyone deserves a second chance was President Barack Obama’s message when he called Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie last week to congratulate him and the team for giving quarterback Michael Vick a take two.

NBC’s Peter King reported the call during “Football Night in America” on Sunday.

“I talked to Jeffrey Lurie, the owner of the Eagles this week, and he said he was surprised to pick up the phone one day and Barack Obama calls him to praise the Philadelphia Eagles for signing Vick and giving him a second chance,” King said from NBC’s Rockefeller Plaza studios. “Lurie told me that the president was passionate about the fact that it’s rarely a level playing field for prisoners once they leave jail. And he said the message was, what the Eagles had done with Vick was important for society,” said King.

A spokesman for the Eagles confirmed to POLITICO that King’s statement was accurate.

I am sorry, but I have no sympathy for those who torture and kill. Even when their victims are 'just dogs.'

I still remember hearing and reading numerous conversations, primarily from the black community, where those sentiments seemed to be the most often cited.

Michael Vick in another era? Would have be drummed out of the league and rightfully so. But not so when it concerns American athletic hero worship. American celebrity athletes can do no wrong.

Personally, I don't care if Vick could single handedly play all eleven positions on the team each week. The man committed despicable acts against defenseless animals and for that? His forgiveness is between him and his God.

Meanwhile here on earth? Those who continue to worship at the alters of celebrity immediately look past the horror and abuse the man inflicted. All they see is his football antics every Sunday.

So go ahead mr. president, tell us all how un-level the playing field is. You failed to throw out the caveat 'unfair for blacks', but most everyone knows what you meant.

Hawaiian "Jedi" defends Obama: Says he's offended...

I didn't know that Jedi's could be offended....

So the governor elect of Hawaii attributes  Obama's problems to the 'dark side of the force?' I wonder if the dear governor has considered the obvious worrisome correlations that can be made from a remark concerning the 'dark side of the force' and a black president.

Abercrombie offended by Obama citizenship questions

(HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie said Friday the "dark side" is responsible for accusations Barack Obama is not or should not be president because he was not born in the United States. As governor Abercrombie is optimistic he will be able to quiet at least some of the questions surrounding Obama's birth place.
"This has to do with the people in Hawaii who love him, people who loved his mom and dad. This has to do with the respect of the office that the president is entitled to," Abercrombie said after attending the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl at Aloha Stadium.
The controversy first gained national attention during Obama's presidential campaign in 2008. While his mother was from Kansas, his father was from Kenya. And doubters claimed he was born in either Kenya or Indonesia where he lived for a while as a child.
Obama's 2008 presidential campaign responded by releasing a certification of live birth and posting it online. But critics persisted. They want to see his original long-form birth certificate - - something that by law is not public record.
Chiyome Fukino, who at the time was Director of the Hawaii state Department of Health issued a statement saying she had "... personally seen and verified that the Hawaii state Department of Health has Senator Obama's original birth certificate on record..."
Even that did not quiet some who challenge Obama's legal citizenship.

I am sure that there are those who will agree, that there is a 'dark side of the force' at play in the Obama administration. Just not from  the same angle as the governor is attempting to portray it..

His side of the story

Amazing. the media by and large have left this story lay. No one wants to take on the TSA or homeland Security. i suspect for fear that federal agents will be sent to their door.

The simple questions remains? What did the man do wrong? And more specifically, what law or federal regulation did he violate? This is part of the visible idiocy that is daily surfacing out of the administration of Obama.

This administration allows the largest publication of secret documents in the history of the world? And then blocks sites that posted them from viewing on government computers. Then they tell government employees? Not to view these media sites as it may violate the secrecy's act. Laughable!

And here is Homeland Security and the TSA going after a pilot for filming a video that shows nothing but disparity. No security secrets were reveal, yet they came and took his firearm and reprimanded him for posting the video.

This is the world that we are living in. We are a hair's breath away from Orwell's Big Brother and the Nazi Brown Shirts.

Stay tuned catchy monkeys, as the other shoe has yet to drop on the real terror attacks that this administration knows are coming. Meanwhile Bis Sis and the rest are pursuing who they see as the real enemy. They are pursuing Americans. that should be cause for reflection by everyone in this country.

The cold facts are heating up again

You knew it had to happen. Disregard the cold temperatures and the blizzard conditions all across America and northern Europe the past two weeks.

HEADLINE: "It's Global Warming!"

THE earth continues to get warmer, yet it’s feeling a lot colder outside. Over the past few weeks, subzero temperatures in Poland claimed 66 lives; snow arrived in Seattle well before the winter solstice, and fell heavily enough in Minneapolis to make the roof of the Metrodome collapse; and last week blizzards closed Europe’s busiest airports in London and Frankfurt for days, stranding holiday travelers. The snow and record cold have invaded the Eastern United States, with more bad weather predicted.

All of this cold was met with perfect comic timing by the release of a World Meteorological Organization report showing that 2010 will probably be among the three warmest years on record, and 2001 through 2010 the warmest decade on record.

How can we reconcile this? The not-so-obvious short answer is that the overall warming of the atmosphere is actually creating cold-weather extremes. Last winter, too, was exceptionally snowy and cold across the Eastern United States and Eurasia, as were seven of the previous nine winters.

For a more detailed explanation, we must turn our attention to the snow in Siberia.

Disregard the facts, disregard the realities, disregard that we have had back to back coldest winters on record, it has to be global warming, because anything else doesn't square with the propaganda of the last ten years.

Meanwhile, those with intelligence continue to shiver and shake their heads in disbelief of the idiocy being floated as truth and policy.

In the absence of God

In the absence of God? There are no acts of God.

Britain mulls new airports law

British ministers said on Sunday they want to introduce new laws to allow regulators to fine airports for travel disruption, after a pre-Christmas cold snap all but shut down Heathrow Airport last week.

Philip Hammond, the transport minister, told the Sunday Times that regulators should have tougher powers to punish airports who fail passengers, after thousands were forced to sleep at Heathrow when heavy snow grounded flights.

"There should be an economic penalty for service failure," he said. "Greater weight needs to be given to performance and passenger satisfaction."

Hammond said it is unacceptable that BAA, the Spanish-owned operator of Heathrow -- the world's busiest airport for international passenger traffic -- will face no punishment from the regulator under the current system.

At the moment, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) can only impose fines in specific categories, such as for how long passengers queue at security, seating availability and cleanliness.

This is not a far stretch in the UK of today. Britain has become the most secular society in the west and their abandonment of God and faith increases daily. The UK long ago reached the level of secular absurdity therefore, something like this is not really shocking or surprising.

Certainly weather isn't an act or cause of anything. Unless of course it is a failure of service and a means to collect further taxation and penalty. And besides, the liberal view of all societal problem solving is rooted in taxation, legislation and penalty. It will be interesting to see how this turns out, as if passed into law, this will surely be the death knell for air travel in the UK.

So how long before we hear...."Parliament save the Queen!"

'We the people'

Now let's see if they mean it.

'We the people'
The Constitution frequently gets lip service in Congress, but House Republicans next year will make sure it gets a lot more than that - the new rules the incoming majority party proposed this week call for a full reading of the country's founding document on the floor of the House on Jan. 6.

The goal, backers said, is to underscore the limited-government rules the Founders imposed on Congress - and to try to bring some of those principles back into everyday legislating.

"It stems from the debate that we've had for the last two years about things like the exercise of authority in a whole host of different areas by the EPA, we've had this debate in relation to the health care bill, the cap-and-trade legislation," said Rep. Robert W. Goodlatte, Virginia Republican, who proposed the reading. "This Congress has been very aggressive in expanding the power of the federal government, and there's been a big backlash to that."

Setting aside time at the beginning of the congressional session for the reading is just one of the changes to House rules that Republicans say are designed to open up the legislative process. They say the new rules also will try to bring some restraints to lawmaking after decades in which both Republican and Democratic leaders whittled away opportunities for real legislative give-and-take.

The people are watching.......

Our 'Terror State'

The threat of terrorism has subjugated common sense and provided the means for government to become terrorists against the people of America in my opinion. Never mind that we have ceased to call it the war on terror, or that our nation treats Islamic militant nations with benign humility. The reality IMO is, America is being terrorized daily as a result of Islamic militancy and our own government in complicit in that terror.

The story above reflects yet another example of an individual (an American citizen) being terrorized by the US government and all under the auspices of supposedly thwarting terror and protecting us all.

America will hopefully wake up to these realities and rebel against them before it is too late. Our forefathers stood up against vexing taxation. How much more must this generation endure before they finally realize that the present government as it exists, is not our friend.

The movement to take back America began on November 2nd, but it is far from over. With the new congress these issues need to be joined and those who stand for individual freedom and religious freedom in this country, need to stand up to our present omnipresent government now while they can.

Stop Hating and Start Debating?

Not in this lifetime. Liberals don't know how to debate. All they know how to do, is follow the game plans laid out by their socialist, secular, communist and anti christian mentors like Saul Alinsky. And those game plans call for endless marginalization and demonization of the opposition.

As an example, have a look at the latest from the malignant mind of the progressive left.

"Even as some well-known anti-gay groups like Focus on the Family moderate their views, a hard core of smaller groups, most of them religiously motivated, have continued to pump out demonizing propaganda aimed at homosexuals and other sexual minorities," the report reads. "These groups' influence reaches far beyond what their size would suggest, because the 'facts' they disseminate about homosexuality are often amplified by certain politicians, other groups and even news organizations."

Outraged conservatives, led by the Family Research Council, have launched an online petition called "start debating, stop hating," which was published as a full page advertisement in the print editions of Politico and the Washington Examiner.

"Tell the radical Left it is time to stop spreading hateful rhetoric attacking individuals and organizations merely for expressing ideas with which they disagree," the petition reads. "Our debates can and must remain civil – but they must never be suppressed through personal assaults that aim only to malign an opponent's character."

Read more here:

For those who don't get it, or those who actually believe that you can have a dialog with the left, remember this. If you are not with them on all issues, but particularly as it concerns homosexuality, then you are against them and that means you are first and foremost? "a hater."

Anyone not living in their limited realm of reality is a hater in their eyes. And so it goes particularly for those who oppose homosexuality and homosexual marriage. Oppose homosexuality? On biblical terms? Doesn't matter, you are a hater. You are to be branded, demonized, placed on hate group lists and ultimately criminalized.

Just so everyone knows the rules, there is no peace on earth good will to men in America anymore. Unless of course, those men are in a committed homosexual relationship and they are allowed by law to marry. Then of course all is right with the world.

Me thinks not. I will go to my grave opposing homosexuality in all of it's representations and incarnations. It is wrong, it is a sin and God says that it is an abomination. That is all the proof that I need.

Blood on the Moon.... Mud in California

Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse from William Castleman on Vimeo.

If you missed the Lunar eclipse on Tuesday night, this video captures it pretty well. I have never seen anything like that before and when I see things like that, I can't help but reflect on the words of Jesus when he was asked of the signs of the end times.

Luke 21:25-28
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26]

Meanwhile, California is experiencing some unusually weather.

Southern California Communities Surrounded By Mud
Southern California residents will get a break today from the wet weather that inundated the region with a year's worth of rain in just one week.

The series of storms that has pounded the area since last week has triggered mudslides, flooding, swift-water rescues and prompted Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency for six counties.

But as the rain subsides and heads east, the clean up begins for areas hit the hardest by the strongest part of the Wednesday's storm.

In Laguna Beach, a wall of water four feet high poured through downtown, bringing with it a tide of mud. The heavy water has made driving nearly impossible near the Pacific coast, with puddles the size of lakes forcing road closures.

Another community that was drenched and damaged by mudslides was Dove Canyon, a community in Rancho Santa Margarita.

"When I stepped off the engine, (the mud) was about waist deep, and it was flowing rather rapidly," Capt. George Casario of the Orange County Fire Authority told ABC News Los Angeles affiliate KABC.

Obama's Christmas Wish

`Season of Progress'

President Barack Obama said the final weeks of Congress proved that Republicans and Democrats can surmount partisan divisions to find consensus on the nation’s most pressing issues.

“If there’s any lesson to draw from these past few weeks, it’s that we’re not doomed to endless gridlock,” Obama said at a year-end press conference at the White House before leaving to spend the holidays in Hawaii with his family.

Instead of political stalemate after last month’s midterm elections, “this has been a season of progress for the American people,” which is what the voters have demanded, he said.

For those following the ongoing drama? What the president is saying? Is that 'now it is time for bipartisan cooperation. Forget the last two years. Just erase that from the memory. Forget about the four years since 06 where Pelosi and Reid and ultimately Obama, basically thumbed their collective noses at their opposition in particular and America in general.

Based on the recent passing of continued tax breaks and extended unemployment, combined with don't ask don't tell and the START treaty? Everything is supposed to be somehow different.

I am always amazed at how easily liberals slip back into their chiffon robes of cooperation, once they don't hold a majority. Everything suddenly changes in their mood and approach. They coo and implore and the only time you see their fangs again, is when they don't get their way.

I still have visions of Bush signing the 'no child left behind and seniors prescription coverage bills.' There was Teddy Kennedy.....standing there applauding at the one moment, then quickly appearing before the cameras afterward to lambaste Bush for under funding the programs and for supposedly taking care of his rich friends in the pharmaceutical industry.

So as I read of the president's newly found hope and desire of bipartisanship in the new year? I can't help but see an image of Obama sitting behind his teleprompter in the Oval office. Methodically reading and re-reading the sentence.. "Now is the time, for all good men to come to the aid of their country."

Use to work for beginning typers. I wonder how it will work for him as his new bipartisan policy statement.

Re-branding the "Lucky D"

As Nancy and the gang approach the dimly lit paths of the new minority, the sounds of rats madly scurrying and scratching about come to mind. Those always so concerned about branding their opposition, are now looking to try re-branding their own tattered image.

Re-branding the Democrats
Midway through Philip Rucker and Paul Kane's story about Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's transition to minority leader comes an interesting bit of news. The California Democrat, vilified by Republicans in the last election, has turned to director Steven Spielberg for help rebranding House Democrats.

Lawmakers say she is consulting marketing experts about building a stronger brand. The most prominent of her new whisperers is Steven Spielberg, the Hollywood director whose films have been works of branding genius. Lawmakers said Spielberg has not reported to Pelosi with a recommendation.

Spielberg has been a power player in Democratic politics for years, working on everything from President Bill Clinton's millennial celebrations to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. He endorsed Hillary Clinton in the last presidential race, but since then he's helped fundraise for President Obama.

It might work. It certainly won't hurt with anyone other than the die hard core elements of the rabid left. They don't see anything wrong and they certainly can't fathom what has happened to their wonderful kingdom. But I seriously doubt that Hollywood's magic can re-make chicken manure into chicken salad. Just my opinion.

Perhaps there was a hint of Christmas future, when their now wistful leader (Pelosi) melted into that blathering puddle of goo after the November elections. Perhaps she and the democrats should have paid more attention to Sarah Palin and the Tea Party and the American people.

But so was her arrogance and her fate. And her subsequent laments....."You cursed brat! Look what you've done! I'm melting! melting! Oh, what a world! What a world! Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness? Oooooh, look out! I'm going! Oooooh! Ooooooh!"

As it stands, it will be interesting to see how and if all the king's men can help put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Meanwhile, there are many in the democrat party and certainly in the republican party who are gladly singing, 'ding dong the witch is dead.'

Christie commutes the sentence

This makes me wish that Gov. Christie was president back when the two Border Patrol agents were sent to prison in 2005. These are the types of actions that we should see many Governors and others (such as presidents) taking.

A man given seven years in prison after being found with two guns he purchased legally in Colorado has had his sentence commuted, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced Monday.

The case of Brian Aitken, 27, had become a cause célèbre among gun-rights advocates. On Jan. 2, 2009, Aitken, an entrepreneur and media consultant with no prior criminal record, muttered to his mother that life wasn't worth living after a planned visit with son was abruptly canceled at the last minute. Aitken then left his mother's home in Mount Laurel as she called police, who later found two locked and unloaded handguns in the trunk of his car.

Good for Governor Christie. Maybe he will run for president in two years....

A chilling admission

If this doesn't scare Americans it should.

Attorney General's Blunt Warning

Attorney General Eric Holder has an urgent message for Americans: While he is confident that the United States will continue to thwart attacks, "the terrorists only have to be successful once."

And while it is not certain we will be hit, the American people, he told ABC News, "have to be prepared for potentially bad news."

"What I am trying to do in this interview is to make people aware of the fact that the threat is real, the threat is different, the threat is constant," he said.

This should be sobering news to America. This administration has been fully aware of these threats since they took office. Yet they have consistently ignored the enemies of this nation and Exposed America's bare flank to the threats.

As Holder is warning, the attacks are coming. He and Obama and the rest know it and they not only know it, but they are assured of it. that is what they have been preparing the ground for the past year with their commentaries concerning America being able to survive another attack, even (if) it is worse that 9/11.

Count on it. It will be worse and it will be soon and in my opinion, we may see it on Christmas morning.

The camel's nose

The FCC proposal to control the internet, is just another example of the camel's nose under the tent IMO.

There is a famous line on one of Shakespeare's plays that goes like this...."the first thing we will do? Is kill all the lawyers!"

That may soon be eclipsed by reality. Once the FCC has control of the internet? I expect to hear this. "The first thing we need to do? Is kill all the blogs!"

Slowly, slowly catchy monkeys............

The FCC's Threat to Internet Freedom

Tomorrow morning the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will mark the winter solstice by taking an unprecedented step to expand government's reach into the Internet by attempting to regulate its inner workings. In doing so, the agency will circumvent Congress and disregard a recent court ruling.

How did the FCC get here?

For years, proponents of so-called "net neutrality" have been calling for strong regulation of broadband "on-ramps" to the Internet, like those provided by your local cable or phone companies. Rules are needed, the argument goes, to ensure that the Internet remains open and free, and to discourage broadband providers from thwarting consumer demand. That sounds good if you say it fast.

So now you know. Fox viewers dumber than the rest

Well there you have it. The numbers are in and it seems that Fox New Viewers are dumber than bricks. While the most informer? Well they watch MSNBC, PBS and evening network news channels.

I would never have guess that I was suffering from intellectual stagnation without a survey like this to slap me back to reality. Now, in other news, Fox news is often cited as the "most biased news" reporting in the industry. Presumably, that is based upon truth being a known bias when compared to the liberal tilt and spin of those like MSNBC and PBS et al.

Study: Fox News Viewers Misunderstand Issues More than Others

Fox News Channel viewers were more likely to misunderstand a host of issues and subjects during this fall’s election season than people who relied more on other news sources such as MSNBC, PBS and the network evening newscasts, according to a study just released by the University of Maryland.

To be clear, the study doesn’t say FNC or any other TV news organization deliberately fed misinformation to its viewers. Instead, the study attempted to assess the ability of members of FNC’s audience, and others, to process or understand information correctly.

As a result, the study concluded that, when issues were misunderstood, they were misunderstood most of the time by a greater percentage of the FNC audience than any other group.

The findings were so unflattering to FNC’s audience that one of the channel’s top execs fired back at the university in a New York Times story:

Separation of Church and state? Guess again

Most have heard the dog eared allegations of the required constitutional separation of church and state before, but what about when the state applies that seperation to private institutions?

Feds Force Okla. Bank To Remove Crosses, Bible Verse

A small-town bank in Oklahoma said the Federal Reserve won’t let it keep religious signs and symbols on display.

Federal Reserve examiners come every four years to make sure banks are complying with a long list of regulations. The examiners came to Perkins last week. And the team from Kansas City deemed a Bible verse of the day, crosses on the teller’s counter and buttons that say "Merry Christmas, God With Us." were inappropriate. The Bible verse of the day on the bank's Internet site also had to be taken down.

“I don’t think there should be a problem with them displaying whatever religious symbols they want to display,” said Amy Weierman, a Perkins resident.

Specifically, the feds believed, the symbols violated the discouragement clause of Regulation B of the bank regulations. According to the clause, "...the use of words, symbols, models and other forms of communication ... express, imply or suggest a discriminatory preference or policy of exclusion."

The feds interpret that to mean, for example, a Jew or Muslim or atheist may be offended and believe they may be discriminated against at this bank. It is an appearance of discrimination.

But customers Eyewitness News 5 talked to said they aren’t buying it.

“This is just ridiculous,” said bank customer Jim Nyles. “This whole thing is just ridiculous. We all have regulatory bodies that govern us. But this is too much.”

“I think that’s absurd,” said Chelsi Holser, a bank customer. “I don’t agree with it at all. They are taking Christ out of Christmas and life.”

The bank is quietly fighting for a clearer interpretation of the clause. Officials have contacted their two U.S. legislators, Rep. Frank Lucas and Sen. Jim Inhofe, and the Oklahoma Bankers Association to help.

SC governor gives Obama a class on statesmanship

Army protestor sentenced, has change of heart

It looks like Lt. Colonel Terrence Lakin has had a change of heart. He now says that he was wrong to challenge president Obams's legality to serve as president and he wishes this "would all just go away." Lt. Col. Lakin now says that he would gladly deploy.

Kind of revisits the old adage...."what a difference a day makes."

Military jury: Prison, dismissal for Army birther

An Army doctor who disobeyed orders to deploy to Afghanistan because he questioned President Barack Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief was sentenced by a jury Thursday to six months in a military prison and will be dismissed from the Army.

The military jury spent nearly five hours deliberating punishment for Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin on Thursday after three days of court martial proceedings at Fort Meade, outside Baltimore, Md.

Lakin was convicted of disobeying orders — he had pleaded guilty to that count — and missing a flight that would have gotten him to his eventual deployment. An army commander, Maj. Gen. Karl Horst, still has to approve the sentence returned by the jury and has the option to reduce it. Lakin could then appeal.

In online videos posted on YouTube, Lakin aligned himself with the so-called "birther" movement that questions whether Obama is a natural-born citizen, as the Constitution requires for presidents, and said he was inviting his own court martial.

But Lakin said Wednesday that despite his questions about Obama's eligibility for office, he was wrong not to follow Army orders. He acknowledged that the Army was the wrong place to raise his concerns about Obama, asked to keep his job and said he was now willing to deploy.

"I don't want it to end this way," Lakin told the jury Wednesday under questioning from his lawyer. "I want to continue to serve."

I suspected from the beginning that he would be convicted and that he knew that he would be convicted. It was my opinion that he was going for political martyr status and was simply setting the stage for the book and movie deal.

Now? I don't know. His reversal of position after conviction will certainly damage any potential credibility as a renegade who stood on principle. In either event, it looks like six months in prison and dismissal from the Army will be his ultimate fate, as I don't believe the Army will want to go any further than that.

There never was any chance that this trial or this lone Army officer could force the issue concerning Obama's birth certificate or his authority to serve as commander in chief. I for one believe that the so called "birthers' will ultimately be vindicated. I don't believe that Obama is a born in America citizen. Therefore, he isn't entitled to be president. but in the present days of forced media perspectives and the head in the sand mentality of the people, the truth will not come out until Obama is out of office. and even then there will be those who will say "so what, he did an alright job."

A sad ending when you think about it America. Welcome to the "whatever generation."

The republican dam holds

From the looks of it, Harry Reid and the democrats have backed away and realized that this pig of a bill won't fly in the face of the people. I certainly hope that the change of heart was at least in some part influenced by the people call and writing and demanding that the nonsense be stopped. But in the interim, it looks like the republican dam has held.

Senate Dem leader drops nearly $1.3T spending bill

The top Senate Republican has offered a one-page bill to prevent a government shutdown on Saturday as an alternative to a 1,924-page catchall spending measure offered by Democrats.

Kentucky Republican Mitch McConnell says it's unbelievable that Democrats want to pass the measure in just a few days as Christmas approaches. He says Congress should pass a less costly bill next year—when Republicans will have more leverage.

McConnell had earlier quietly backed the effort to produce the nearly $1.3 trillion bill, but he's now trying to kill it. McConnell also obtained $85 million in so-called earmarks for Kentucky.

Democrats say they'll take up the bill later Thursday. It bankrolls every Cabinet agency for the budget year that started Oct. 1.

The Red Cross Double Cross

It looks like Christmas is off as far as the Red Cross of the UK is concerned. Wouldn't want to offend the "Moslems" now would they.

The Red Cross bans Christmas in the UK

Christmas has been banned by the Red Cross from its 430 fund-raising shops.

Staff have been ordered to take down decorations and to remove any other signs of the Christian festival because they could offend Moslems.

The charity's politically-correct move triggered an avalanche of criticism and mockery last night - from Christians and Moslems.

Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in New Romney, Kent, said: 'We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can't have anything that means Christmas. We're allowed to have some tinsel but that's it.

'When we send cards they have to say season's greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas.

'When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Moslems.'

Mrs Banks added: ' We have been instructed that we can't say anything about Christmas and we certainly can't have a Christmas tree.

' I think the policy is offensive to Moslems as well as to us. No reasonable person can object to Christians celebrating Christmas. But we are not supposed to show any sign of Christianity at all.'

Labour peer Lord Ahmed, one of the country's most prominent Moslem politicians, said: 'It is stupid to think Moslems would be offended.

'The Moslem community has been talking to Christians for the past 1,400 years. The teachings from Islam are that you should respect other faiths.'

He added: 'In my business all my staff celebrate Christmas and I celebrate with them. It is absolutely not the case that Christmas could damage the Red Cross reputation for neutrality - I think their people have gone a little bit over the top.'

The furore is a fresh blow to the image of what was once one of Britain's most respected charities.

The British Red Cross lost friends this year over its support for the French illegal immigrant camp at Sangatte and its insistence on concentrating large efforts on helping asylum seekers.

Yesterday officials at the charity's London HQ confirmed that Christmas is barred from the 430 shops which contributed more than £20million to its income last year.

'The Red Cross is a neutral organisation and we don't want to be aligned with any political party or particular philosophy,' a spokesman said.

'We don't want to be seen as a Christian or Islamic or Jewish organisation because that might compromise our ability to work in conflict situations around the world.'

He added: 'In shops people can put up decorations like tinsel or snow which are seasonal. But the guidance is that things representative of Christmas cannot be shown.'

Volunteers, however, said they believed the Christmas ban was a product of political correctness of the kind that led Birmingham's leaders to order their city to celebrate 'Winterval'.

I wonder if those in the employ of the Red Cross of the UK? Have ever considered why their symbol is a cross. Or for that matter? Why their compatriots in "Moslem" countries use the crescent.

They must have skipped over the history part during their indoctrinations and egalitarian brain washing sessions.

You literally can't make this stuff up.

Filibuster the bill says Newt

According to Newt, the republicans in the senate should filibuster the omnibus spending bill. I agree. It is loaded with more pork than a tube of Jimmy Dean sausage and the American people shouldn't allow these interloping democrats to ram this through and set the budget and spending for this country for the next year, via these bull chips of a lame duck Pelosi congress.

The Democrats aren't listening (and neither are the Republicans)

The Democrats aren't listening. The omnibus spending bill, which comprises 1924 pages, has billions and billions of dollars in earmarks. Something that I for one thought the American people had discussed with congress on November 2nd of this year.

That's right. Fifty four democrat senators are listed as having earmarks in this bill. But they are not the only culprits with a hearing deficit. There are thirty three republicans who apparently didn't get the memo on November 2nd either. And the two biggest violators of the people's trust when it comes to earmarks? The two republican senators from Mississippi.

Have a look for yourself.

The Omnibus Arrives

1:11 am December 15, 2010, by Jamie Dupree

I have been talking about it for weeks, and yesterday it was finally released. A 1,924 page behemoth known in the lexicon of Capitol Hill as the “Omnibus” budget bill, chock full of thousands of home state budget earmarks.

Even though it was championed by Democrats, the Omnibus is filled with earmarks for both parties – yes, you read that correctly.

In fact, if you break down the number of earmarks for each Senator, you will see that the top two earmarkers in terms of pure numbers are the two GOP Senators from Mississippi, Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker. Cochran happens to be the top Republican on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

So here’s the list of Senators and the number of earmarks I found for each in this Omnibus – so find your Senator and see what they did in this bill.

Now. Anybody up for a round of emails and phone calls to their senators?

Just get out of the way!

According to Joe? Get out of the way! Act! Act!

That's right. Don't read it, don't see what is in it, pay no attention to what this sophomore president may have bartered away or flat out given away. Just Act!! It's the people's business.

Excuse me uncle Joe, but haven't we seen this same bill of goods out of this administration enough over the last two years. The Obama health care bill being a primary example. People still don't know what the hell is in that and you want to sit there like Obama's puppet and parrot this propaganda as if you are some authority on all subjects?

Try this Joe. If you really want your career as a puppet to take off? Get in touch with Jeff Dunham and tell him that you would like to apply for "Walter's position in the act."
The likeness is uncanny.....

You already favor the crotchety old fart to the point that it is scary and maybe with someone with a brain (ie. Jeff Dunham) putting the words in your mouth? You might actually say something intelligent or even remotely funny from time to time.

Think it over Joe. You will need a soft place to land in two years anyway.

A pig's ear. Only 48 Billion

They call this one Redistribution on steroids

I wonder why?

Rep. Cleaver has proposed a $48 billion earmark

When absurdity gives way to hilarity, you must be talking about politics.

In the midst of a colossal global concern for the economic stability of our great nation, Emanuel Cleaver, Missouri's 5th Congressional District representative, has one small earmark on his wish list that deserves some attention.

Cleaver has listed a new earmark -- one of several -- and he promises to "fight for every one." But this is a whopping $48 billion package that must go down as the grandaddy of all earmarks.

Proposed by a gentleman named Lamar Mickens, president of the not-for-profit Quality Day Campus, the $48 billion earmark would funnel money into the inner cities to give money to the poor and thereby produce a much larger consumer class to buy the goods and services produced in this country.

Just call this redistribution on steroids.

Cleaver's office says this of the proposal:
(I believe this is what they call the "sweet spot.")
"The Epicenter is a proposed estimated $48 billion (Phase One) mass scale urban reclamation project for combating, reducing, reversing and/or eliminating poverty within under served communities by utilizing mass scale economic redevelopment to bring about stability and self reliance.

OK. So the idea is short of specifics.

Currently Mickens operates this massive proposal out of his home but with Cleaver's help, this earmark could put him on the road to success.

I love it when uneducated people (AKA stupid people) attempt to represent themselves as being intelligent. Especially when they publish it like this Missouri representative has.

And here to fore? I thought the dumbest brick in congress, was Hank Johnson (D Ga.) He is the one that thought Guam would 'capsize' if we moved 8000 Marines there from Okinawa.

But I do believe, that rep. Emanuel Cleaver has gone one better.

Different war different era. Same battle plan

A popularize maxim of late, is to state that those who do the same thing over and over again, expecting a different outcome are insane. Personally, I believe stupid is closer to the mark.

Intelligence Reports Offer Dim View

As President Obama prepares to release a review of American strategy in Afghanistan that will claim progress in the nine-year-old war there, two new classified intelligence reports offer a more negative assessment and say there is a limited chance of success unless Pakistan hunts down insurgents operating from havens on its Afghan border.

The reports, one on Afghanistan and one on Pakistan, say that although there have been gains for the United States and NATO in the war, the unwillingness of Pakistan to shut down militant sanctuaries in its lawless tribal region remains a serious obstacle. American military commanders say insurgents freely cross from Pakistan into Afghanistan to plant bombs and fight American troops and then return to Pakistan for rest and resupply.

So, here we are sixty odd years after our adventure in Korea and thirty five years past our ordeal in Vietnam. In both instances, our enemies fled across a border when pressed and when not pressed, they sat on the other side of those borders and prepared for attacks against our troops. Which they repeatedly launched.

Whether it was the 38th parallel in Korea, or the 17th parallel in Vietnam, the results were always the same. The enemy got to move south and attack US troops at will, then scurry hurriedly back into the undergrowth and back across the neighboring borders and the American military was powerless to pursue them.

Here we are again it seems. Our enemies the Taliban are daily attacking our troops with their cowardly IED's and their fleeting ambushes and yet they are allowed to literally sit on the Pakistani border and flip us off. And the Pakistani government? The same Pakistani government that America has paid billions to for their cooperation against terrorism? They allow the Taliban to operate in Pakistan and occupy these tribal mountain areas, unfettered, unabated and with absolutely no fear of the Pakistani army (or the US Army) ever coming to evict them.

General Douglas McArthur spoke out, as it concerned then president Truman's orders to him to not pursue the north Koreans and communist Chinese Migs beyond the Yalu river and not to cross the Yalu river in pursuit of the enemy. It cost MacArthur his career, but the man was proven right by history.

And now? Here we sit fifty seven years later and there is still no resolution on the Korean peninsula other than war again seems nearer by the day. Combine that with the fact that there were apparently no lessons learned in Vietnam either. Fifty eight thousand men died and hundreds of thousands were scarred physically and emotionally by that war, yet we learned nothing about prosecuting a war against an insurgency.

The bottom line, if we are not going to prosecute these wars as they should be prosecuted? Then we should get the hell out and bring our troops home and begin bunkering and sand bagging the entire border of America. From Canada to Mexico, from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Just draw in our people and shut the entire thing down globally and let the forces of evil have the rest of the world. That is all that we have accomplished in the last sixty years since the end of WWII anyway.

A Camoflage Christmas

Prayer costs nothing and yet it is so valuable. Say a prayer for these men and women daily. Pray that they are kept say and that they are returned to their families whole. Pray that a way can be found to end this war and that there will be those present with the fortitude to accomplish it without having wasted the lives lost to date.

Awaiting a verdict on Obama's authority to be commander in chief (UPDATED)

Court to hear case of Lt. Colonel who wouldn't deploy
A military court was set to hear the case Tuesday of an Army doctor charged with refusing to deploy to Afghanistan because he says he doubts whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S. and therefore questions his eligibility to be commander in chief.
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, an 18-year-Army veteran, disobeyed orders to report earlier this year to Fort Campbell in Kentucky to prepare for deployment, saying he believed the orders were illegal.
In videos posted on YouTube, Lakin aligned himself with so-called "birthers" who question whether Obama is a natural-born citizen as the U.S. Constitution requires for presidents.
Lakin says in the videos that any reasonable person looking at available evidence would have questions about Obama's eligibility to be president and that he had "no choice" but to disobey orders. Lakin, a native of Greeley, Colo., said he would "gladly deploy" if Obama's original birth certificate were released and proved authentic.

I support what Col. Lakin has undertaken as his own personal crusade. Maybe he can break through where others have failed, but in either event, win or lose, the issue of Obama's birth certificate will not be resolved by this court martial and I don't hold out any hope that Col. Lakin will prevail.

The best that can happen is that the court could rule that the Colonel was justified and his actions of refusal to deploy were proper. However, I don't look for that to happen.

The military judge has already ruled to exclude Obama's birth certificate as a material issue of evidence and therefore, it is not admissible as either evidence or argument before the court.

So barring divine intervention, Col. Lakin will be convicted and sent to a military prison, convicted of refusing to obey a direct order etc. They will make an example out of him, they cannot afford not to. Especially with him being a higher ranking officer.

What needs to happen? An entire brigade or regiment needs to step off and refuse to deploy until the questions surrounding the interloper Obama are revealed for the truth once and for all.

But don't look for that to happen.

I have absolutely no doubt that Obama is an interloping imposter and someone who was specifically cultivated by the new socialist party (AKA the "NewParty") in Chicago five years ago, but exposing him for what he is and who he is and the facts around his birth and everything else? Well that simply won't happen until he is out of office.

People have been screaming about it since before he was elected and the complicit media refuses to uphold the responsibilities that were given them by the constitution.

Yes, the truth will eventually come out but at that point? It will no longer matter, an the damage will have been done and the point will be moot.

Presently there are a number of bloggers on the internet calling on others to send emails to Fox News and other media outlets inundating them, demanding coverage of Lt. Colonel Lakin's trial. That is an admirable undertaking, but it is the equivalent of trying to nail jello to a wall. The MSM in America simply isn't listening and anyone who has been paying attention over the last eight to ten years has to know that.

Obama is an enemy to this country no doubt about it, but so are the facilitators in the media who are complicit conspirators and have been for decades. So stay tuned and watch for news of a verdict in the Lakin case by Friday. Probably late Friday. That's usually the way they handle news reports that they don't care to pursue beyond a ten second splib of recap. Maybe later on, Glenn Beck or others will pick up on the story again and cover the conviction, but that is about all that will happen.

FORT MEADE, Md. – An Army doctor who disobeyed orders to deploy to Afghanistan because he questions President Barack Obama's citizenship has pleaded guilty to one of two charges against him.

At a court-martial proceeding Tuesday in Maryland, Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin of Greeley, Colo., pleaded guilty to a charge that included not meeting with a superior when ordered to do so and not reporting to duty at Fort Campbell.

Lakin faces up to 18 months in prison and dismissal from the Army.

He pleaded not guilty to a second charge of missing a flight he was required to be on. His court-martial at Fort Meade is continuing on that count.

Hawaiian officials say they have records proving Obama was born there and is therefore eligible to be president. But so-called birthers challenge that.

The Weeper of the House

I am sorry. I first saw this on a clip of the hens cackling over at at The View. Whoopie Goldberg and Joy Behar were roasting John Boehner over his 60 Minutes interview with Leslie Stahl, while Barbara Walters was presiding over the affair.

They deemed him the Weeper of the House and I have to agree, he is becoming the "Weeper of the House."  And he has no wiggle room on the moniker.

I have never been a fan of Boehner's and once again, the republican establishment is sticking with their man in waiting, as opposed to fielding the one most capable for the position.

Boehner will be lambasted by the left as a result of this interview with Stahl and deservedly so if you ask me. This is not the image of the number three person in our government that I want to see conveyed to the world.

Our enemies must be laughing as they watch us trade the lunatic Pelosi for the emotionally weak Boehner.

Holbrooke's last words.

"You've got to stop this war in Afghanistan."

You have got to be kidding me. The Drudge Report's banner right now is screaming this headline.

The report comes compliments of the Washington Post no less.

Sorry, family sources or no, I find it extremely hard to believe that the man's last words were these. Having been at death's door step on at least two occasions in my life, I can assure you, matters such as these are the least of your thoughts or concerns when the light of life is waning.

I have seen some political parlor tricks in the past that were tasteless, but this is beyond the pale IMO.

As this is a Drudge 'developing story,' I await the further dribbles of this as it is leaked forth today.

Go ahead wade through five pages of the Washington Post accolades for Holbrooke. (They finally posted it) Then at the very end, you will find the quote. Almost as if a voice speaking from the grave.

Sorry, but I for one am not in the mood for contrived theater.

Are Jimmy Carter's comments on Holbrooke's last words forthcoming? I suspect so. Two peas from the same pod.

Saturday Night Card Game (It's Just Chocolate Frosting, You Idiots)

This is the latest in a series on the use of the race card for political gain:

I admit it, the title of this post is somewhat intemperate.  But I can't take it anymore.

Nothing is safe from the insanity that is the race card in modern America.  Not even the chocolate frosting on our cupcakes, or the creative mind.

Duncan Hines had a good idea.  Come out with a line of cupcake "glazings" and hire a well known animation studio to create a catchy set of commercials:
To inspire creativity during the height of baking season, Duncan Hines partnered with Filmaka to tap four professional filmmakers for their one-of-a-kind vision. Each director offers their own interpretation of the passion, creativity and fun behind baking that the Amazing Glazes toppings inspire. The first video in the series, called "Hip Hop Cupcakes," launched today at

Created by Josh Binder, a Chicago-based director, "Hip Hop Cupcakes" portrays how Amazing Glazes make any delicious dessert "sing." Binder's inspiration for the video was bringing to life the joy of baking. "I wanted to create an entertaining and engaging way to show bakers that this glaze makes everything you top taste better and more exciting."
And the commercial they created was great, featuring singing chocolate frosting on top of cupcakes:

It definitely made me hungry, laugh a little, and even contemplate buying the product.

The problem?

The commercial supposedly was "racist" because the singing was done by chocolate frosting which supposedly resembled singers in blackface:
"The racial component can’t be overlooked. It doesn’t matter that they’re cupcakes; the fact that they start rapping isn’t too far a stretch from making them in blackface. If the icing was in different flavors, or the lips weren’t so big and pink maybe we could give the ad a pass, but as it stands it’s a pretty poorly constructed and potentially racist ad I’m the last person to be overly sensitive to media images, but the frothy mix of chocolate skinned cupcakes, bad Hip-Hop and a long media history of depicting stereotypical black people to sell food give me reason to question the intent if not the effect of this."
These cupcake commercial makers obviously were not sufficiently sensitive to the hyperactive imaginations of the race card players:
"Those “Hip Hop Cupcakes” just make me sad…Clearly there are no minorities in the board room where they work on advertising at Duncan Hines.

The director of the ad is Josh Binder who as you might of guessed, is white.

Surely somewhere in his film school education he was taught about the history of minstrelsy and blackface in America?"
Not recognizing the irony, the "Annals of Absurdity Blog" at The Village Voice chimed in:
"Taking a lesson from the "Drunken Negro Face" school of publicity, the folks at Duncan Hines have made cupcakes more offensive than Magnolia Bakery could ever hope to, thanks to their Amazing Glazes campaign."
Inquiring minds are asking:
"Did no one honestly see this cupcake controversy coming at Duncan Hines?"
Well, why should they have seen this coming when there is nothing wrong with the commercials?  It's just chocolate frosting, you idiots.

Predictably, Duncan Hines pulled the ad because of the controversy, with this explanation:
"Our intent was to entertain fans with a fun video about chocolate glazed cupcakes, and nothing more."
In this day and age, the California Raisins never would have stood a chance:

What Welfare Can Cause

I received this in email today and I believe that it needs the widest possible dissemination.
What Welfare Can Cause
(Frosty Wooldridge (born 1947) is a US journalist, writer, environmentalist, traveler)
By Frosty Wooldridge
For 15 years, from the mid 1970's to 1990, I worked in Detroit , Michigan .  I watched it descend into the abyss of crime, debauchery, gun play, drugs, school truancy, car-jacking, gangs, and human depravity.  I watched entire city blocks burned out.  I watched graffiti explode on buildings, cars, trucks, buses, and school yards.   Trash everywhere !
Detroiters walked through it, tossed more into it, and ignored it.  Tens of thousands, and then hundreds of thousands today exist on federal welfare, free housing, and food stamps !
With Aid to Dependent Children, minority women birthed eight to 10, and in one case, one woman birthed 24 children as reported by the Detroit Free Press, all on American taxpayer dollars.
A new child meant a new car payment, new TV, and whatever mom wanted.  I saw Lyndon Baines Johnson's "Great Society" flourish in Detroit ...  If you give money for doing nothing, you will get more hands out taking money for doing nothing.
Mayor Coleman Young, perhaps the most corrupt mayor in America , outside of Richard Daley in Chicago , rode Detroit down to its knees.   He set the benchmark for cronyism, incompetence, and arrogance.  As a black man, he said, "I am the MFIC."  The IC meant "in charge".
You can figure out the rest.   Detroit became a majority black city with 67 percent African-Americans.
As a United Van Lines truck driver for my summer job from teaching math and science, I loaded hundreds of American families into my van for a new life in another city or state.
Detroit plummeted from 1.8 million citizens to 912,000 today.  At the same time, legal and illegal immigrants converged on the city, so much so, that Muslims number over 300,000.  Mexicans number 400,000 throughout Michigan , but most work in Detroit .  As the whites moved out, the Muslims moved in.
As the crimes became more violent, the whites fled.  Finally, unlawful Mexicans moved in at a torrid pace.   Detroit suffers so much shoplifting that grocery stores no longer operate in many inner city locations.  You could cut the racial tension in the air with a knife!
Detroit may be one of our best examples of multiculturalism: pure dislike, and total separation from America .
Today, you hear Muslim calls to worship over the city like a new American Baghdad with hundreds of Islamic mosques in Michigan , paid for by Saudi Arabia oil money.  High school flunk out rates reached 76 percent last June, according to NBC's Brian Williams.  Classrooms resemble more foreign countries than America .  English?  Few speak it!  The city features a 50 percent illiteracy rate and growing.
Unemployment hit 28.9 percent in 2009 as the auto industry vacated the city.  In this week's Time Magazine October 4, 2009, "The Tragedy of Detroit: How a great city fell, and how it can rise again," I choked on the writer's description of what happened.  "If Detroit had been ravaged by a hurricane, and submerged by a ravenous flood, we'd know a lot more about it," said Daniel Okrent.  "If drought, and carelessness had spread brush fires across the city, we'd see it on the evening news every night.
Earthquake, tornadoes, you name it, if natural disaster had devastated the city that was once the living proof of American prosperity, the rest of the country might take notice.
But Detroit , once our fourth largest city, now 11th, and slipping rapidly, has had no such luck.  Its disaster has long been a slow unwinding that seemed to remove it from the rest of the country.  Even the death rattle that in the past year emanated from its signature industry brought more attention to the auto executives than to the people of the city, who had for so long been victimized by their dreadful decision making."
As Coleman Young's corruption brought the city to its knees, no amount of federal dollars could save the incredible payoffs, kick backs, and illegality permeating his administration.  I witnessed the city's death from the seat of my 18-wheeler tractor trailer because I moved people out of every sector of decaying Detroit .  "By any quantifiable standard, the city is on life support.   Detroit 's treasury is $300 million short of the funds needed to provide the barest municipal services," Okrent said.  "The school system, which six years ago was compelled by the teachers' union to reject a philanthropist's offer of $200 million to build 15 small, independent charter high schools, is in receivership.  The murder rate is soaring, and 7 out of 10 remain unsolved.  Three years after Katrina devastated New Orleans , unemployment in that city hit a peak of 11%. In Detroit , the unemployment rate is 28.9%.
That's worth spelling out: twenty-eight point nine percent."  At the end of Okrent's  report, and he will write a dozen more about Detroit , he said, "That's because the story of Detroit is not simply one of a great city's collapse, it's also about the erosion of the industries that helped build the country we know today.  The ultimate fate of Detroit will reveal much about the character of America in the 21st century.  If what was once the most prosperous manufacturing city in the nation has been brought to its knees, what does that say about our recent past?  And if it can't find a way to get up, what does that say about our future?"
As you read in my book review of Chris Steiner's book, "$20 Per Gallon", the auto industry won't come back.  Immigration will keep pouring more, and more uneducated third world immigrants from the Middle East into Detroit , thus creating a beachhead for Islamic hegemony in America .  If 50 percent illiteracy continues, we will see more homegrown terrorists spawned out of the Muslim ghettos of Detroit .  Illiteracy plus Islam equals walking human bombs.
You have already seen it in Madrid , Spain ; London , England , and Paris , France with train bombings, subway bombings and riots.  As their numbers grow, so will their power to enact their barbaric Sharia Law that negates republican forms of government, first amendment rights, and subjugates women to the lowest rungs on the human ladder.  We will see more honor killings by upset husbands, fathers, and brothers that demand subjugation by their daughters, sisters and wives.  Muslims prefer beheadings of women to scare the hell out of any other members of their sect from straying.  Multiculturalism: what a perfect method to kill our language, culture, country, and way of life.
