There are sluts? And there are comedians...

I suppose the definition is all in the eye of the beholder or perhaps the entertainer or comedian who utters it. As the offense to such branding must also be in the ear of the beholder. Much has been made and said this week of Rush Limbaugh's referring to a Georgetown law student who testified before congress as a slut. Specifically for arguing that her birth control should be a paid benefit of insurance coverage. Limbaugh likened that analogy to a woman who profits from the sexual use of her body. So, a campaign has been mounted to chase Limbaugh' advertisers away from his daily program and already over a dozen of his advertisers have fled citing his leftist hyped fowl of calling this woman a slut..

As a local radio host in Atlanta remarked today (Neil Boortz) "it is time for Rush to pull a "Masters moment." Referring to the incident several years ago at The Masters when feminists attempted the same type of blackmail against The Masters in an attempt to force them to admit women at Augusta National. The Masters committee said "fine. no problem. We will just cancel advertising this year and not accept any advertising for the Masters period." They could afford that decision and so can Clear Channel Communications, Limbaugh's employers. The bottom line, Rush will continue to bring in millions of listeners each day. Listeners capable of discerning the truth from the lies, the double standards and leftist propaganda.

Oh! And in the interim wile Rush weathers this tempest in a tea pot? Let's take the "Way Back Machine" on a little trip around recent history of the use of the word slut by the opposition and see if we can find any other recent examples where alleged sluts were publicly identified.

Laura Ingraham May 2011

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, suspended by MSNBC Wednesday evening for calling conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut” on his nationally syndicated radio show, addressed his comments on the final Ed Show episode before beginning what was to be week-long suspension. In a remarkably fulsome and sincere apology, though, Schultz announced that he was taking himself off the air for an “indefinite” period.

Ingraham responded to Schultz’s comments on her Facebook page with the good-humored, if clichéd, “Ed who?”-style reaction:

And who could forget this. Cloris Leachman calls Sarah Palin a slut.

Or this one where David Letterman referred to Sarah Palin as a slut

Or what about when Sarah Palin was called a whore to her own daughter and the media lapped it up.

Or this one where Bill Maher calls Sarah Palin a 'Dumb Twat"

So you see, its all relevant. It's just a matter of who says the word and whether there was comedic intent. So, maybe the next time Rush should lead in with an analytical introduction of humor. All that is required is the proper context and  suddenly, the term is non offensive to the vast liberal left.

Problem solved.
