Vigilantism has its price

Five years ago an Arizona rancher stopped and held a number of illegal Mexicans that had entered this country illegally. He stopped them and held them at gun point for US Border Patrol authorities who apparently can't seem to staunch the flow of illegals on their own.

Last week, the rancher Roger Barnett got his reward.

Rancher Ordered by Court to Pay

The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court verdict ordering Arizona rancher Roger Barnett to pay damages of $87,000 for holding a group of undocumented immigrants at gunpoint.

The incident occurred in March 2004 when the gun-toting Barnett detained a group of 16 unauthorized immigrants -- none of them carrying weapons -- on public land near the border town of Douglas, Arizona.

There are a number or ironies present in this story, not the least of which are the actual facts and outcome of the incident. I seriously doubt that Mr. Barnett has the funds to appeal the case to the Supreme court, as I seriously question whether they would intervene and overturn the verdict period.

On a side note, something that I found as an exceedingly bothersome discovery upon following and reading this report, is that Fox News now has an independent website for Latin news and reporting. Aptly titled "Fox News Latino."

This site was the media outlet covering the news of Mr. Barnett's case.

After perusing the site a bit, I discovered that all of the news articles and sections of this site cater to the Latin and Spanish speaking community.

And yet we here in America wonder what is becoming of our country and why. We are literally giving away our heritage and each day the egalitarian conveyor belt of American multiculturalist destruction adds more and more to the growing pile of what America use to be.
