Ain't nothing super about it

I remember the days when the Super Bowl was a big deal. Something happened. Last night's game was anything but super in my opinion. Maybe it was the pregame show that lacked the promised hype. Maybe it was Christine Aguilera's botched and over the top blues rendition of the national anthem.

And maybe it was the Black Eyed Peas half time gala and their interjection of “Where Is the Love?”: “In America we need to get things straight / Obama, let’s get these kids educated / Create jobs so the country stays stimulated.”

Either way, the game was a bust as an entertainment venue if you ask me. I am sure there are a few million Packers fans who are pleased and all in all, their victory was about the only bright spot of the evening IMO. Back when the game was first created, the focus was on the game, the competition and who would be victorious. That has all changed now.

Today's Super Bowls are more about the hype and the hustle and the supposed color commentary and of course, the opportunities to interject the proper political commentaries.

Prior to last night's game, there was a promise that there was going to be a salute to the one hundredth birthday of President Ronald Reagan. That never happened. Instead, we were treated to a botched blues'd up national anthem by a has been tart and a half time political commentary by a electrified band of losers, interspersed with millions of dollars worth of commercials that were absolutely abysmal in their totality.

Sorry, but I knew there was a reason that I gave up caring about this game years ago and last nights version covered all those reasons. There came a time in my life when the only reason I watched the game at all was for the commercials.

After last night's game? And the Dorito's 'finger sucking pants sniffing' offering? I see they have finally screwed that up too.

PS. Congratulations cheese heads.
