Governor Christie missed the point. He was wrong

Chris Christie can strongly defend his position all he wants to, he was wrong. It is done now and over, but the man was wrong. Having flags lowered to half mast is an earned honor and not something to be utilized for mere celebrity.

Whitney Houston was a great singer. She had her demons and those demons ultimately ended her life. That is sad, but sad is not a justification to diminish a time honored tradition for the single purpose of placating celebrity.

Chris Christie was wrong and there are millions of Americans that know and realize that he was wrong.
Gov. Chris Christie has strongly defended his decision to have flags flown at half-staff Saturday for Whitney Houston despite receiving emails and other messages disparaging the singer and criticizing him.
The Republican governor said Wednesday that he rejects complaints that Houston “forfeited the good things that she did” because of her struggles with substance abuse.
“What I would say to everybody is there but for the grace of God go I,” he said.
