A tragedy comes to a close

sandusky handcuffed Jerry Sandusky Guilty On 45 Counts

The trial of Jerry Sandusky comes to a close, but the tragedy of his victims never ends. Not as long as his victims are alive and breathing will this tragic saga end. Not while they are capable of remembering what this monster did to them. There are few crimes that on the surface should warrant the death penalty upon a finding of guilt, but in my opinion, pedophilia is at the top of the list.

There are those that will claim pedophilia is a sickness, a mental illness a disease. Rabies is a mental illness and a disease by definition also. A sickness and a disease of the highest order and in my opinion there is little difference between the diseased mind of a pedophile and that of a rabid animal and as such, they should share the same fate. They should be removed from society permanently, to insure that they cannot further contaminate and infect the healthy.

There were a lot of victims in this tragedy and sadly, there were those who could have prevented the ongoing victimization of these boys. The coaching assistant who first observed the raping of a boy in the showers at Penn State years ago, was as culpable of the ongoing crimes as Sandusky was in my opinion. What sort of a man encounters something like that then flees the area and claims that he had to go get his thoughts together?

I know what I would have done and I know what my son would have done had he witnessed something like that. This case would have come to the surface right then and there and Sandusky would have been tried for his crimes just as soon as he was medically able.

Those in the food chain after this coaching assistant reported the crimes to Joe Paterno should also share guilt, responsibility and criminal culpability for the ongoing crimes that Jerry Sandusky was allowed to continue to commit due to their cowardice and failure to act responsibly.

No.....this tragedy it is not over, it is simply a closed chapter in a never ending book of shame and pain that these young men must carry with them for the rest of their lives. As for those who lined the streets to see Sandusky led away to prison? As to those who shouted "rot in hell?"  I believe that his eternal fate is best left to a higher power and it has probably already been arranged.

Jerry Sandusky Guilty On 45 Counts

Jerry Sandusky showed little emotion as the jury in child sex abuse trial read the verdict finding him “guilty” on 45 counts and “not guilty” on three. The judge immediately revoked his bail and he was handcuffed and sent to the Center County Correctional Facility.

“The Sandusky family is very disappointed obviously by the verdict of the jury but we respect their verdict, said defense attorney Joe Amendola. “We have some appeal issues, we’ll pursue.”
