Where are the exits?

When your only strategic concern in a military intervention to address a totalitarian regime bent on genocide? Is to get the hell out before you even get there? To abdicate all leadership responsibility and refuse toe even acknowledge that there is a problem?  What the hell kind of strategy is that?

I guess America is truly seeing (now) what they bartered for when they bought into the hope and change hustler who now resides in the White House.

Reading the headlines today is like watching the total collapse of American leadership on the world stage of the last sixty years.

Just some of the headlines blaring across the UK today, as it concerns America's lack of leadership in the Libyan crisis.

  • Tensions with Britain as Gates rebukes UK government over suggestion Gaddafi could be assassinated

  • French propose a new political 'committee' to oversee operations

  • Germany pulls equipment out of NATO coalition over disagreement over campaign's direction

  • Italians accuse French of backing NATO in exchange for oil contracts

  • No-fly zone called into question after first wave of strikes 'neutralises' Libyan military machine

  • U.K. ministers say war could last '30 years'

  • Italy to 'take back control' of bases used by allies unless NATO leadership put in charge of the mission

  • Russians tell U.S. to stop bombing in order to protect civilians - calls bombing a 'crusade'

  • And the president's response was this.....

President Barack Obama Wednesday categorically ruled out a land invasion to oust Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi as coalition forces launched a fifth day of air strikes against government military targets in the North African nation.

And Obama said the U.S. this week will be pulling back from its dominant role in the international campaign aimed at preventing Gadhafi from attacking civilians
So I'm thinking? They already know that the US has ruled out most every option concerning Libya, aside from a few hundred million for Tomahawk strikes. And beyond that? The Europeans and the rest of the world are figuring out pretty quick that it is time to de-ass the equation. Their collective version seems to be... If the Americans aren't ass deep in all aspects of the Libyan UN intervention? Then it is time for us to to leave.  And they are leaving, like rats abandoning a ship. The Europeans are worried and they are showing their true stripes IMO.

Germany has announced  they are pulling out of the UN coalition formed to deal with Gadaffi, the French are running scared and talking about forming committees and the Italians are about to boot American NATO bases out of Italy period. Therefore, the trilateral foundation of the UN agreement to intervene in Libya, just had the legs cut out from under it, with the departure of Germany.

America has lost control of its stature and leadership roll in the world and we have lost all credibility on the world stage. Obama has absolutely no idea how to manage international diplomacy with other nations in the absence of canned speeches and his general apoplexy  as it concerns any decisive position on any international issue.

The world has spent the last sixty five odd years since the end of WWII, looking to America for answers when they were threatened. And suddenly? We don't have any answers.

Barack Obama is literally wrecking this country fundamentally, just as he promised. And the band plays on....
