A Statesman Affirming Texas Sovereignty

Gov. Perry Backs Resolution Affirming Texas’ Sovereignty Under 10th Amendment

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

For too long in my opinion, the people of America have elected representatives who go to Washington, to sit in the White House and to occupy the halls of congress and do nothing aside for their own self serving interests. And once elected, we have as a rule allowed them to do as they pleased and to get away with what most would call "bloody murder" when it comes to the use of our hard earned money. And many of them have spent decades doing just that. IMO, there has never been a darker time in our history, particularly as it concerns the economic survival and future of this country if not the world.

For many years I have maintained that all we seem to ever raise up are bush league politicians and crooks, more interested in their own concerns and lining their pockets than engaging in the better interests of the people's business. I have often lamented "where are the statesmen of old?" Where are the leaders that will stand first for the constitution and the rights of the people and the country and strive always to insure that neither ever suffers under attack or attempt to circumvent them or let them down.

Well? We may finally have found that man. And God help us.... I hope that his standing up will lead to the standing up of many others. By the dozens. Now is the time that we truly need statesmen and those capable of understanding what made this country great and how our foundation blocks as outlined in the constitution should be understood and applied and not torn assunder with the meanderings of liberal socialism and socialist relativism.

Rick Perry may very well today, have set off the shot heard round the world. I certainly hope so.
