The Piracy of America

After watching this crisis unfold for the past several days? I am wondering just who the pirates are. The Somali's who boarded the Mairsk Alabama? Or the ones roaming the White House and the halls of Congress masquerading as our country's leadership.

First comes Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before the media (finally) to address the pirating of a US flagged ship with 21 Americans aboard? Why? Because the president of the United States refuses to issue a statement or take questions on the matter from the media after how many days?. (Remember....he was in Turkey and it was the middle of the night when this crisis began, and his response was to call Hillary and his national security council and put them to work on it.) Apparently, they haven't come up with much for him to feed the teleprompter, as he is refusing to talk about it. Which means, no one has told him what to say or what his official policy is yet. You almost have to believe that he is getting very aggravated with his new secretary of state. After all, she swore that she knew what to do when the phone rang at 3 AM.

And now with the eyes of many Americans focused on the Secretary of State in anticipation of some words of consolation? We get a woman that seemingly comes across as if this is some unique occurence in that part of the world. (She apparently missed all the other Somali pirate activity over the past year) And then she proceeds to break into chuckles while addressing the press and the history of America and piracy in the region. Almost as if she is playing some bizarre cartoon strip in her mind of Pirates and Jolly Rogers!

Excuse me, but I for one happen to think this is a serious circumstance and as an American I expect my government to take immediate and proactive measures to protect the citizens of this country regardless of where they are attacked, assaulted or abducted. But now I am sitting here watching the junior statesman from Illinois, masquerading as president and dodging an important crisis (his first), while his secretary of state laughs and giggles while addressing the media on the crisis!

My God!

And then comes Mr. Potato head (John Kerry) with his two cents worth, which amounts to.... he wants to call senate hearings on piracy and hold a policy debate? Because among other things, one of those who was affected by these pirates is from Massachusetts! And he just thinks this is all too surreal! Not to mention, he is using terms like "hot pursuit" involving piracy! These are not simple criminals, they are terrorist. And as is evidenced once again? Those presently occupying the highest offices in Washington don't recognize that.

I ain't making this stuff up!

Kerry calls for pirate hearings as drama continues

"These acts of piracy off of Somalia’s coastline may seem surreal, but they’re all too real and a thorough policy debate is long overdue," said Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) in a statement. "When Americans, including at least one from Massachusetts, are endangered, you’ve got a complicated and dangerous international situation brewing, and that includes questions about a hot-pursuit policy on Somalia’s coastline."

OK, so this piracy of a ship off the coast of Somalia has been going on days now, and the best that has come from this administration, is that the president doesn't want to talk about it. Hillary thinks its funny and John Kerry believes we need to spend money on senate hearings to find out why they have targeted a citizen from his state.

Can it possibly get more bizarre than this? These are the people in charge of this country right now. How long before the truly dangerous and evil people in the world decide to take advantage of the utter and complete lack of leadership and responsibility now leading this country at all levels.

I say it will be less than a year before we are attacked again.
