Tell a lie to Congress? No problem, just withdraw it

The fast and furious scandal surrounding the ATF and the US Justice Department is the kind of thing that would completely destroy a republican administration, but not so the democrats and their friends in media.

Justice Withdraws Inaccurate 'Fast And Furious' Letter It Sent To Congress

Under fire for losing track of weapons that turned up at crime scenes along the Southwest border, the Justice Department has taken the extraordinary step of formally withdrawing an inaccurate letter about the episode that it sent to Congress earlier this year.

Deputy Attorney General Jim Cole sent nearly 1,400 pages of emails and other documents to Capitol Hill late Friday afternoon that lay bare the raw and sometimes cringe-worthy process by which the letter was drafted. The materials contain clues into how misleading information about the botched gun trafficking operation made it into a Feb. 4, 2011 letter to Congress that department leaders have since acknowledged was false.

Is it really that simple? And should it be?

The bottom line, the US Justice Department and the Attorney General have lied to congress and to the American people. Not only that, but they have done so in a manner that speaks directly to the arrogance and corruption that is present and caused the violations of the law and to the constitution to begin with.

The Fast and Furious program had one purpose from the onset and that was the hope that it would give the Justice Department the means and ability to attack Americans and the 2nd amendment. Eric Holder was never interested in interdicting illicit weapons going to Mexico, his intent from the beginning was the hope that he could manufacture a case to claim a need for eliminating the 2nd amendment rights of Americans.

And now that his true purpose has been revealed, along with the culpability of the ATF for the death of an American Border Patrol agent, Holder and the Justice Department have repeatedly lied about their intent and their involvement in the ludicrous program. And having been caught in their own lies, they now want a re-do. They now want a do-over. Let us retract those sticky parts where you now know that we lied and simply allow us to obfuscate further on what our real desires and intents were from the beginning.

If the American people allow them to get away with this then they deserve anything that they get in my opinion. "Those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither.' ~Benjamin Franklin~
