The emails now revealed

Paper reveals SC gov's romantic e-mail exchange

Much has been made of South Carolina's governor Mark Sanford's disappearance act last week and the subsequent revelations of an affair with an Argentine woman this week, but one of the big missing links now revealed are the emails.

Not that there are any great revelations or unique perspectives revealed in any private communication concerning a sordid affair, but the South Carolina newspaper that has supposedly had these emails for the last six months and sat on the? Well that leaves a bit more than a simple question mark at the end of the examination IMO.

Someone with access to the governor's private email account obviously skimmed these emails months ago and sent them to the newspaper. And now that the proverbial cat is out of the bag? The newspapers releases the emails and claims that they had no way of knowing that they were true before the governor's confession?

"We didn't know that they were true, basically, until this week, and events that happened this week, things the governor said today, finding him at an airport in Atlanta coming back from Buenos Aires, authenticated the e-mails," O'Connor said.

I am sorry, but that is a bit of a stretch for me. They obviously knew these emails involved the governor and that they involved a potential political bombshell. What were they waiting for? IMO, the answer is relatively simple. They intended to sit on these emails for how ever long it took, to determine the political viability of a presidential run by Sanford in 2012.

Makes you wonder what else in being sat on and not released.

From the press that the wife is getting, she is firm in her stance and should be. What a cad.

I'll give him a month before he resigns. If that.
