Recession leading to violence among California homeless

Apparently there is something in the water in California. those on the dole seem to be taking it to the streets on their own. In two separate incidents, one man was killed and in a separate incident, customers were assaulted. the common denominator in both incidents, 'homeless men begging for money who were refused.'
Note in the video report at the link, there is no mention of the fact that the assailant was moments before panhandling his victim.

Elderly Man Allegedly Beaten To Death At Lakewood Walmart

A 47-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly beating an elderly man to death with a baseball bat at a Lakewood Walmart store.
Witnesses say the suspect, who appeared to be homeless, approached a 74-year-old man in the store’s sporting goods section Tuesday and asked if he could spare some change.

Sheriff’s deputies evacuated the store at 2770 Carson Street shortly after 4 p.m.

And in other news.......

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Talk about a caffeine kick.
Starbucks Ransacked A morning trip to get a cup of coffee turned into more than several customers bargained for at a Sacramento-area Starbucks when an angry panhandler ransacked the store, according to police.
The bizarre incident began at the Starbucks at West El Camino and Truxel after a man began asking customers for money. When he failed to get any donations, witnesses said he grew very agitated and started screaming at people.
Officials said he also allegedly shattered a glass counter that separates the customers from the baristas, and threw coffee and other items all over the cafe.
The suspect then ran out of the store, but was later arrested by police. Even while sitting in the police cruiser, the suspect continued to act strange, nodding and shaking his head at CBS13 cameras, and even licking the window.
No injuries were reported.
