White House 'Misrepresented' Views to Justify Drilling Moratorium
The seven experts who advised President Obama on how to deal with offshore drilling safety after the Deepwater Horizon explosion are accusing his administration of misrepresenting their views to make it appear that they supported a six-month drilling moratorium -- something they actually oppose.Sure looks that way doesn't it. The president and his energy Czar Salazar leaped out almost immediately and declared a six month moratorium on "all" off shore drilling for new oil and they supported their contention based upon the crisis and the supposed support of leading 'scientists.'
"None of us actually reviewed the memorandum as it is in the report," oil expert Ken Arnold told Fox News. "What was in the report at the time it was reviewed was quite a bit different in its impact to what there is now. So we wanted to distance ourselves from that recommendation."
Now we come to be told, that wasn't exactly the truth. The scientists are stepping forward and saying in essence, that is not what we said and that is not what we supported and that is not what we reported to te president, when last we saw the report.
Mean while......Salazar fesses up.
Salazar apologized to those experts Thursday.
"The experts who are involved in crafting the report gave us their recommendation and their input and I very much appreciate those recommendations," he said. "It was not their decision on the moratorium. It was my decision and the president's decision to move forward."
And has what by any other standard would be considered an "Alexander Haig moment?" And not only does the media accept the explanation by Salazar, they completely overlook the over stepping of protocol in his statement where he asserts that the decision was his to paraphrase "It was (my) decision and the president's decision to move forward." (on never missing a good opportunity to exploit a crisis.
