Cain is steering into a mine field

Herman Cain's rise in popularity in the polls is beginning to translate into attacks from all corners, as evidenced by the remarks today from those in both parties.

Excerpts from an LA times article 10.09.2011

Herman Cain steps up attacks on Occupy Wall Street protests

Republican presidential contender Herman Cain amplified his criticism Sunday of the growing Occupy Wall Street movement, calling the protesters “jealous’ Americans who "play the victim card” and want to “take somebody else’s” Cadillac.

Newt Gingrich's subsequent comment:

Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, who appeared on the program with Cain, offered a more measured response, but blamed the White House for the discord.

Rep. Paul Ryan's response to Herman Cain's remarks.

Asked whether Cain’s criticism was representative of the party, Ryan said, “I think Herman’s speaking for himself.”

And this from Nancy Pelosi

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco on ABC’s “This Week,” essentially called Cantor a hypocrite for criticizing the Wall Street protesters while embracing the “tea party” movement.

“I didn’t hear him say anything when the tea party was out demonstrating, actually spitting on members of Congress right here in the Capitol, and he and his colleagues were putting signs in the windows encouraging them,’ Pelosi said.

Pelosi said she supported the movement’s “message.”
In my opinion, the surge in popularity that Herman Cain has experienced and is experiencing, is the direct result of his down to earth personality and his absence of a political history. He's a fresh face. Those qualities are resonating with the American people obviously and as a result, Cain's opponents in both parties are now taking notice.

Herman Cain has most recently challenged the belief system of liberal democrats on homosexuality (opining that it is a choice) and today he is wading further into the fray as it concerns the anarchist anti capitalist movement 'Occupy Wall Street.' As the old adage says, most Americans would do well to follow the money as it concerns this 'occupy movement' in America.

If they did follow the money, they would soon learn that the organization should rightfully be called 'Occupy by Moveon.org.' The labor unions and those like Moveon.org are both organizing and bankrolling this opposition movement to the Tea Party and the GOP, so there no surprises there for anyone who cares to look closely.

And predictably, those like Nancy Pelosi are supporting this anti capitalist movement, while continuing to chastise and deny social and political validity to the Tea Party and conservatives period. Mean while, the rest of the GOP field and those in the party's inner circles are taking their own shots at Cain.

Herman Cain is the non establishment candidate who brings no party allegiances to the table and on top of that, he hasn't been properly anointed by the GOP king makers prior to deciding to launch his candidacy. Those party pariahs like Karl Rove and the GOP hired gun pundits in conservative media: are each providing defilade indirect fire at Cain as a disruption and an attempt to pull him off message and drag him down to their level of punch and jab politics, where they believe they can knock him out of the race in favor of their chosen candidate Romney.

Therefore, in my opinion, Herman had better be careful as he proceeds from this point further. He is now entering the literal mine field of dirty politics. A place where demonization and logic bombs sit quietly awaiting a misplaced step or inadvertent gaff or the turn of a phrase.
