Is Babylon Calling?

Revelation 13:16-18 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a MARK in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the MARK, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Rev. 13:16-18

Vatican calls for global authority on economy
The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a “global public authority” and a “central world bank” to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises. The document from the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department should please the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn.

“Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary Systems in the Context of a Global Public Authority,” was at times very specific, calling, for example, for taxation measures on financial transactions. “The economic and financial crisis which the world is going through calls everyone, individuals and peoples, to examine in depth the principles and the cultural and moral values at the basis of social coexistence,” it said.

It condemned what it called “the idolatry of the market” as well as a “neo-liberal thinking” that it said looked exclusively at technical solutions to economic problems. “In fact, the crisis has revealed behaviours like selfishness, collective greed and hoarding of goods on a great scale,” it said, adding that world economics needed an “ethic of solidarity” among rich and poor nations.

There are many who believe that the bible is truly the inspired word of God. I am one of those. There are also many fundamentalist Christians who believe that the references to Babylon are a direct reflection of the city of Rome and the Vatican as a modern day metaphor.

As I read this article today, I cannot help but feel compelled to believe that what the world is presently witnessing, is the predecessor of events foretold in prophesy thousands of years ago in the bible. Why else would the Vatican be putting forth a proposal that literally speaks directly to the prophesies of Revelation that outline how the world will be brought to accept a singular and ultimate controlling global authority.

Why would the Vatican and the Pope be calling for such a thing?

I can find only one answer and that answer has little to do with either finance or geopolitical politics.

Yo Lo!

I've been telling churches all over the place for over 30 years that we already have a "1 world currency." It's called a credit card.

There is no more such thing as "cash." The old phrase, "cold hard cash" was there for a reason. It represented gold and silver, or some actual usable metal like copper.

We have lived in the "cash-less" society for a long time now. A dollar bill is not "cash" it is merely a "credit slip." In 1900 you could take a $20 gold piece and buy a fine, tailored, 3 piece suit. If you had the same $20 gold piece today you could buy the same thing with it.

We already live in a cash-less society. I can take a viable credit card and go any where in the world and buy anything I desire if I have enough "credit."

I rather think that the "Rome" thing is far from the culprit, but rather a useful diversion to the real monster ... whose tentacles have been reaching, expanding, and are now tightening around the throat of every nation on earth. We are seeing it right before our eyes and few know what it is they are seeing.

I agree Chuck. We lost the plot in the 30's with FDR.

But what is truly coming closely follows the present technology IMO. And my question remains.....why would the Vatican or a Vatican Council be pushing something that so inherently speaks to evil?

The word "stupid" is the only thing that comes to my mind.

:-)

I tend to see that great "Whore Babylon" as being exactly what we see rising out of the mid-east, Islam. And she is thirsty for the "blood of the saints."

I see your point, but I still tend to look toward Rome as the intended metaphor as it concerns Babylon in Revelations. Rome and the Vatican is who is being spoken of IMO. There were more published reports this morning where one of the Vatican Cardinals was quoted concerning this announcement.

There is an irony in my opinion. The Catholic church and the Vatican as a whole are the most opulent of all in Christianity. With huge cathedrals and golden trappings and tapestries and statuary of the saints etc all over the globe in their churches.

These are the same church leaders who have reached into the most distant reaches of the planet. Into villages of abject poverty where they established churches where the same opulence is carried forth and the poor of that location are tasked to support the church.

I personally have a problem with that. And for them to come forth to point crooked fingers at anyone as it concerns opulence and wealth distribution is the height of hypocrisy IMO.

There is more than a chasm that exists between Protestantism and Catholicism IMO and I firmly believe that the church of Rome will be the first to endorse and support the anti Christ when he is revealed. JMO.

I really don't have an opinion about current day Rome? I certainly see the connection in Revelation, and there's no doubt that Rome was the direct target of John's writing!

I have wondered if Rome might be the one that appeared to be dead and then comes to life again to torture the saints? She does seem to be making a strong come-back in terms of influence in the world. She no doubt led much of the tribulation toward the saints for some 1,800 years. She could very well be it.

These are certainly days for the lifting up of our heads! Never been a day like our day ... for a true world wide control and domination by a beast. No doubt about that!

I can't quite say yet that, "I have seen it." But by golly we can smell it in the air can't we!

God Bless!

It is definitely in the air my friend. As for Rome and Babylon.

I see Rome as the center of the beginning of the rise of the anti Christ and the flash point for the tribulation.

Everything biblical centers around Israel and Rome and the come clash and final battle. The resurrection of Rome etc as a world leader. all that points to the geography and IMO the Vatican. Of course no one knows, but that is my belief.
